I do. over $110K USD for a year 1992 500e far exceeded what I thought was market value. Not a bad thing

Its a double edged sword that.....Values going up,is not cool for those who are proper enthusiasts,,that cannot afford what " investors" are paying for " our cars"....
When i got my greywolf...(my silver 500e ) last year,,,the only reason i was able to get that car..or A 500e again, was due to me knowing the previous owner and car for 8 years,,,and he wanted to let the car go to me,,because he saw me as an enthusiast, and i have after all been working on this car/ and knowing this car since it came to Norway, back in 2017/2018.So i basically got the car for a suuuper nice friendly price.

So ...personally,,im not fond of seeing all these various older cars,rising so much in value.Also,there are too many auction houses and investors making to much money of hyping up the prices,and selling the cars to new investors.its a viscious cycle i think.

yes i get your point. I am all about fair market value. this particular 500e selling for 98k euro is far higher than I originally thought. but congrats to the seller to find an eager buyer.

I am also all about fair market value,,,but that is not what we see on a regular basis..i think. What we see now, is uphyping of values,by auction houses etc etc...which i do not like one bit. .....
When it comes to the car in your post...that is definetly sold for such an amount due to the mileage...though to be fair,,Im personally not to hung up in what mileage a car has. Its the condition that matters in the end..i think.

some guy with money just wants a low mileage 500e in his collection. period.

anyways, thank you for all your wonderful w210 E50 AMG maintenance content.
I am about to revamp and make the 722.6 om my E50 shift faster and better.

This was $110k USD for a low odometer (32kmi) that came with a free car. It's a bit on the high side but not that far above current market values. Low-mile 036's are selling for steep premiums these days. As you noted, this is mostly driven by collectors. The supply of no-mile cars is small so they are forced to pay a premium for them.

Triple that odo to ~100kmi, and the price drops in half to the $50k-$60k ballpark. Of course, there are examples like this one which may end up at nearly the same price with twice the km's...

I know collectors, who have already bought most 10 and 20 kkm cars, they moved now to 50-80 kkm. So market for those "special request "cars is not healthy and bubbly, for now. But get used to, so no unpleasant surprizes will follow you.

PS Used and not that shiny, but great drivers cars with 200-300 kkm are not possible to sell now for over 30 kEuro, nobody calling. Dead Market up to 50 K.
Admins will kill me, but here is one of thoes cars. Engine is done, both axels new and so on. He is asking 35 kEuro...

this car has 337,000 km driven? If so, 35,000 euro asking price is a bit high.

no doubt your 500e forum contributes to e500e market. this is for sure. Id argue it even contributes to classic 90s benz market overall, in general.

But this board from it’s creation has been dedicated to the 124036 & 034 w/the M119 motor. Other models have crept into the forum but it remains only for the E500E, 400E & E420.

The way I see it, Owners/Members can discuss any vehicle in their own thread if they want and others can chime in if they are inclined.

Personally, I prefer to analyse 124.036 price trends not in isolation, but in the context of other <comparable> cars.

As I see it, it may already be too late to jump on the 124.036 train, while it’s not yet too late to consider late SL500/600s or any of the 55Kompressor monsters.

But I appreciate the hint that other forum members may be getting tired of seeing these alternatives brought up every time.
