Just read that final model of 1995 Porsche 928 GTS with 4 speed 722.3 was just as fast 0 to 60 and quarter mile as its 5 speed manual varient. The most powerful V8 model of the 928.

Also, it has only a 2.20 rear gears option for its automatic version.

722.3 confidence lives on!

Looks like the rear axle ratio varied quite a bit, but in 1995 the rear gearing was 2.54 with automatic transmission. The super-tall 2.20 gears were only used on certain models between 1983-1988, and only in USA. More here:

Also, in the video, the 1-2 upshift was at ~4500rpm instead of redline. This is typically because the kickdown solenoid is not receiving +12v at WOT. The comment section was entertaining, some muppet was insisting that redline WOT upshifts are bad for the powertrain. ROTFL.

Hello @gsxr

yes, i noticed that too. 1 to 2 shift was at 4500 rpm, so i thought he wasnt smashing the throttle down enough, then it seemed he was!
So you believe there is a faulty kickdown solenoid in his 722.3?

I'll go back and read the comment! lol
