722.365 question

Hi guys,

I'm doing some work on a 500E's 722.3 (reverse clutches worn out), and I'm unsure about the overload switch and it's pin that pushes the brake band.

Is it correct that only with my full bodyweight I can push in the piston for around 1 or 2 mm?

I took off the plastic retainer for the pin which ofcourse crumbled, but I don't big issues with leaving that since once installed it would be no issue.

Last question:

This plastic guide is missing, and I don't think the gearbox has been opened yet... could early 722.365 boxes (it's a 500E from march '91) not have had these?

I'd order it, but still unsure since it is missing.

Thanks!

It's the reaction valve after some more google-time. Curious to know if someone can guide me towards stuck valve/spring, or normal :)

Did you see the HOW-TO write-up located at the link below?

Yes thanks Gerry, but didn't find my answer there. Installation isn't the issue, just if the spring is really that stiff and there is only a good 1mm travel in the reaction valve... I suppose it will be, but rather be sure before reinstalling :)

Steve - maybe a stupid question, but doesn't the piston push the pin out when activated? Which means the piston is already in retracted position held back by the spring, i.e. the function is opposite of what you try to do.
