Anybody know what these parts are and where they go?

Well in my ordeal to get my car back together I have these two “foam” pieces with no part numbers that I assume go somewhere in the front end.
I have the bumper and the front fenders liners still to install

Speedy is correct. If you look in my Top-End Job thread in the Project Journals sub-forum, you will see photos of me installing them. I believe those two pieces are NLA from MB.

Sorry, they’re back in the car.
These rubber pieces are the last pieces that I have not figured out where they go. They have strong indentation so I’m assuming they go somewhere along the top of the fender when the hood is closed but I have not been able to figure it out. Anybody have any ideas?47129FC1-6883-4152-97DD-85A6FCEBC2E3.jpeg1A362924-936F-483A-A9A1-C3B92BB4E10C.jpegE7E6DEF3-E16A-4590-852F-1F3011EF9023.jpeg86DC0E51-36A4-4721-8DA0-B721AFEC6811.jpeg26F2EDB1-9758-466F-8D05-118C56BFBC6F.jpeg

Those appear to be the rubber pieces that go on the lower leading edge of the headlight 'buckets', the plastic parts that sit between the headlights and the body and are secured w 4 short bolts (two v short ones on top, two on bottom). The leading edge and this rubber sit under the bottom. I redlined your image to show where.

Yep, correct. Those pieces are a slip-fit onto the headlight buckets. The rubber pieces DO NOT attach to the buckets via bolts. The buckets attach to the car by bolts, but not the rubber pieces.

Again, shown clearly in my HOW-TO thread that I linked above.

Thank you guys! That is great. Does anyone know if I can put the bumper on before I put the fenderliner on and does anyone have pictures of the screws that connect the liner to the bumper at the front?

Fender liners can be installed before or after the bumper. If installing new liners, remember to swap over the rubber gasket along the edge, note the originals were stapled in place. I don't think I have pics of the extra screws, from memory there is one at the underside/corner, one inside near the tire, and one extra between the engine splash panel and fender liner. And a small screw for the fender liner to a metal bracket that's hard to access...

Another set of photos from my Top-End job that shows the headlight bucket and rubber.

I'm trying to get the foglights back into the bumper now and just realized they were riveted on on one side. Has anybody just used some regular screws and bolts there for reinstall?

The fog lamps attach to metal brackets with 3 screws and 3 clips/nuts.

The metal bracket may attach to the bumper with rivets.

Can you post a photo of what you're dealing with?

Sorry, I should’ve been more clear, I am talking about attaching the metal bracket back to the bumper. Two of the bolts are the same ones that are used to pull the bumper on, and the other two are rivets. I’m thinking I could just use some screws and nuts instead of the rivets there.

Normally, the metal bracket does not come off the bumper. I am not sure what would be the best method to re-attach. If the bolt heads don't interfere with the impact strip, it should be ok. I'd use locking nuts or threadlock.

Thanks, well playing in the engine I found this wire unplugged. Can’t seem to find where it goes or what it is

Intake air temp sensor, located in the plastic ducts behind the headlight, that connect to the foam tubies to the airbox.

For anything that is in the engine compartment (not the bumper or inner fender liner), you should REALLY take the time to read the project HOW-TO thread I authored over the summer. It is set by step and all parts and items are thoroughly documented.

the forum allows you to “bookmark” individual threads or posts for later reference.

I think if you comprehensively read my thread, about 98% of your questions will be answered. I completely took everything apart in the entire engine bay, headlights out, radiator out, etc. the only things I did not remove were the A/C condenser ahead of the radiator, the electric fans, and the engine block and heads. Everything. Yes, EVERYTHING else in the the entire engine compartment — from the base of the windshield to the radiator, was removed, cleaned, replaced if needed or refurbished, and then re-installed.

I think an hour of your time reading the thread and bookmarking or copying individual post numbers that explain things or answer your questions, would be time well spent.

Situations like yours are EXACTLY why I took the time (and I’m talking many many hours) not only photographing things, but writing up descriptions as to what I did, step by step, and then uploading everything in a logical fashion. Threads like mine are EXPRESSLY DESIGNED to assist folks like you and answer questions before they are asked.
