Good news everyone. NLA rear windscreen for 500E is now back and available.

Over 12 months ago I started to try and find a new rear screen for my 500E. It had gone NLA. Through an AMG friend in Germany I discovered Mercedes had found a new supplier. I checked here with my local Mercedes dealer and they now show over 400 in stock. I have ordered mine as mine is cracked.

Thanks

Good news, maybe add the part number and an indication of the price you paid too?

My local dealer here in Northern California has just placed the order. They are great Mercedes of Santa Rosa, the parts manager Phil went all out last year to try and get me the last screen that was in stock in Germany, but we missed it .

Should take 4-6 weeks to get to USA
Part # 1246701080
$1020 USD MSRP

This is the RevParts site from my local dealer. I will check with them tomorrow on price and availability. If it is available, I will put in an order.

Interesting that it says that the part number you show, doesn't fit the E500. That is the correct part number for the .036

I have sent this thread to Phil. He also is a member here , he owned the 500E Porcedes CA plate . He went to the end of the earth and back last year trying to get me the glass. He also needed one for his 500E. I cannot imagine he has made a mistake

Your guy didn't make a mistake, not at all. It's just that the RevParts catalog has not updated the availability of the part, now that it is available again.

The more reliable source is the second one I pasted in, which is MB Classic Parts in Germany. Importantly, they are saying that the part is available.

Eddie at MB of Annapolis will have me a definitive answer by 9AM EDT tomorrow morning as to availability, and how many are in Germany (and if any are in the US) via the Mercedes-Benz "Partsbgon" (Paragon) system.

Ok great, Phil at Mercedes Santa Rosa has already placed my order but it is not in stock in the USA, 4 to 6 weeks deliver

Looks like MSRP is $1020 and dealer cost may be $510, if so, some dealers might be willing to wiggle on the price a bit. Not having any inventory in USA (yet, I assume) will be a nuisance. Hopefully MBUSA brings some across the pond.

Just out of interest if any of the UK based members are going into a Main dealer in the near futre
I would be interested to know how much MB UK expects customers over here to pay for one of these

Hi All , The back screen is on now. took a few days because it had been replaced once before in the car’s life. The last time a window installer had cut out the glass and at the same time they cut into the body paint where the glass sits. This resulted in a reveal of a lot of corrosion around the car body screen recess where the glass fits into. luckily it was not rotted through. So the glass installer knocked back the lose rust, applied rust converter, then he primered it. I had to get a can of silver paint mixed up because we needed to repaint the repaired parts. We used enamel paint. he coated the whole recess with the silver 744, which was all covered by the new seals anyway, but it was done for added protection. I had my glass pre tinted before installing, by my window tint person. The tint I use reduces heat by 80%, needed here in California.

Overall came out great . the clarity is amazing and heater/demister is working, although that was tested by the window installer since I don’t make morning mist right now. will see over time how well it works in real world situations.

As for the other new rubbers I got, I highly recommend to get a great fit on the new glass. The only part NA is the one in the picture. Bit of a sad thing because rest is all new, the trim and the rubbers .

Here are the part numbers and qty I purchased with pre tax price after my discount

3 x 124-678-10-97 SP Seal $12.00 each
1 x 124-670-08-08 SP Seal $36.80
1 x 124-670-07-08 SP Seal $34.80
1 x 124-678-20-30 SP Back Window Trim $76.00
1 x 124-678-19-30 SP Back Window Trim $76.00
Total $259.60 before tax

To Complete the list
1 x 124-670-10-80 SP Rear Glass $750.00

Looks great!

I would encourage everyone to get these anodized trim pieces while they are still available, as anodizing them will be expensive due to their awkward shape/size. The little center clip isn't available anymore but anodizing that shouldn't be too outragous.
