Looking for a recomendation to have the above radio repaired
When switched on the display shows the word ERROR not the E1 etc
codes that other posters mention
Ideally I would like somewhere in the UK but no one seems to do repairs anymore
so it looks like it will have to be sent to Europe or the US
Many thanks for any help or recomendations

Grand Prix 2000-Typ1310 on the front of the book
I did have it working, I had lost the code and tried a couple of wrong codes which
kept increaseing the wait time and eventually would not let me enter a code
Then I found the code card
Then I saw something about holding down a pair of buttons while the power was on
This let me enter the correct code and the radio did work
But when I park the car I have to disconnect the battery and now when I reconnect it
and turn on the radio I get the word ERROR on the display
So any help or advice would be gratefully received

Apologies, I can’t help with the repair question except to say I believe Becker in the US will add Bluetooth and replace faulty capacitors etc. as well as a repair I have no personal experience of their service.

Are you disconnecting the battery due to a parasitic drain?

No my storage is a few miles away and has no mains electricity so sometimes it sits for weeks
on end so I think its better to just disconnect the battery
I had heard of Becker US but was hoping to avoid overseas shipping import duties etc
Thank you for the reply

try replace i2c eeprom 24c02/85c82 and etc

and write dump, or trying only rewrite dump, but I think the memory is damaged, this happens often

if you do not find the dump, write in my private messages

Thank you for the reply niz
Its a bit too technical for me to understand but thank you very much
for taking the time to reply and help

this is not a highly qualified job, contact any personal computer service, it's literally like writing a bios to a laptop or motherboard

only they will need to know where the memory is installed, and the working dump, if you find a service, contact me, I will share the information

or buy ch341a and replace it yourself)

Thanks Niz I know some people that work with computers I will print this off and show them
I will also google some of the terms myself its good to learn about new things

I got this back last week all fixed and working again
They changed the memory chip they said it stores the saved station pre sets
as well as the security code so Niz was right
I used Revive car audio in the UK as I was concerned about the cost of shipping to the US,
customs charges when it came back getting lost etc.
The only down side is because of the new chip the security code is now different
The cost was £160 plus VAT for the repair general service and return postage
The radio was very well packed when it came back
Hope this is of use to UK based members
