HI,

My car originally came with "758 - BECKER RADIO MEXICO 2000 - JAPAN" that's according to build sheet. Somewhere during its life someone change to some aftermarket stereo. I'm trying to revert this back to as close to original as possible. I have manged to get Becker Mexico BE1460 and radio tuner in the boot(100% working, tested etc) The only problem is that the front speakers don't want to play. Fader control seems to work fine but only rears are playing. My car is only equipped with 4 speakers, no door speakers etc.

Antena doesn't work either when you power up the radio. However works when bench tested.

Could someone pinpoint me to the right wiring diagram, any advise is welcome.

I was just about to start a new thread when I read this one, I have a similar situation.

I also have a Japan build - 92 500E, and when I received the car the original radio was completely gone.
The data card for this 500E has "758 - BECKER RADIO MEXICO 2000 - JAPAN", like yours, and also "818 - CD-Changer in Trunk"

As much as I'm OK with the Pioneer system currently installed, it would be a nice touch to get the radio system back to stock, or as close as possible. Does anyone know which parts I need to source, on eBay there are several labeled as Mexico 2000, but with different units specified, BE1535, BE1560, BE1431, BE1460, BE1430, BE1460AVG... and they all say for a 124
I have know idea which one to try an source, along with any other units needed to get it working.
Does anyone have any recommendations?

@outrbnks - does your Japan-spec car have code 810 Sound System, with midbass drivers located in the front door panels/pockets?

EDIT: Nevermind, I found your owner thread with photos (link) and the datacard (link). The EPC indicates your Mexico 2000 needs the tuner+amplifier combo unit in the trunk, similar to the 1432? Not sure if this is accurate... you may need to do more research to determine if you need other parts/cables besides just the Mexico head unit.

Thanks for your research, appreciated, there is nothing left from the original system left in the trunk. I think I'll give Becker in NJ a call next week to pick their knowledge base. I do know there isn't speakers in the doors, just the dash and rear deck speakers, and they all need to be replaced. Thanks again....

HI, @outrbnks I ask to check the offerings of Koenigs. If they not the original two box Mexico but there are several look-a-like Becker radios.

Thanks for your reply, I did go there and look, but unfortunately they don't have any Mexico 2000 radio's. My idea here is to have this 500E as close to factory stock as possible, so the radio needs to say Mexico 2000 on it, even if other models look and sound similarly. I had a 1432 stock unit in my 300CE, which looks like a Mexico 2000 in basic appearance, but it's not a candidate since it doesn't say Mexico 2000 on the face plate. The prices they want for a Mexico unit on the eBay site are extremely high, above the price range I had in mind... and I still don't know which one of the several types of Mexico 2000 is similar to this cars factory original. I have more homework to to before I make any decisions.. thanks....

@outrbnks, can you check to see if the wiring harness is still present and intact / uncut / undamaged? If so, it may only be a matter of replacing the missing components. Otherwise, you might need to get photos from other forum members who own non-USA cars with codes 758+818 to see what connectors / harnesses should be present. If you want to return to stock for originality, this would be really nice.

Note that Becker in NJ probably deals with mostly USA-spec cars, so make sure to explain that you have a Japan-spec car where the systems/components may be quite different.

If the original harnesses are missing or butchered, you may want to consider ditching the stock setup and installing a full aftermarket system instead. The sound quality can be substantially better, depending on your budget.
