Looks like A1248212151 is still a good number for a late model w/cabin airfilters.

$140ish stateside [for aftermarket KAE/Kahler].

For a late (facelift) car, I do not believe that Hella/Behr makes the blower regulator. Only for the pre-facelift cars.

KAE (Kaehler) is an aftermarket part of questionable quality. You can expect to get a couple or three years at most from one of these Kaehler parts. Better to spend the extra money and get the MB genuine part and not worry about it anymore.

The late regulator is made by Bosch. I believe the early one is too but I don't have photos to prove it. They are the same electrically, the primary difference is the heat sink. Also, for the early type you cannot replace the regulator without removing the heat sink. For the late style, you can leave the heat sink in place and just swap the regulator, which is easier.

As Gerry mentioned above, the KAE may or may not be a quality item. The early-style KAE was made in Germany, which is somewhat comforting... dunno about the late ones. I would agree with Gerry that if you want the part to last another 15+ years, buy a new one, AND ALSO install a brand new blower motor at the same time. An old, worn motor can kill a new regulator by drawing more current than normal.

Anyone ever try to use some OHMITE resistors to replace the OE installation? They are a couple of $$ each. Fasten them down to the original heatsink.

I seriously have no memory of space and feasibility on this one- just asking.

That’s not so easy as “couple of resistors”. Hi and low it’s clear but “auto” mode....
it works as stepless regulator in auto mode.

I have used the KAE for facelift and a new motor. Both have responded as stock in Houston heat.
