FOR SALE Burned up 500E in Germany

Fire likely started from the fuel pump package area... probably a leaking/failed high pressure hose. This isn't the first 034/036 to succumb to this. Check those hoses, folks... click here for details.

As Steve said, I'm having a hard time finding €13k in value left. Bumper, fenders, headlights, powertrain.

:yayo:

It can be restored, there are nuts people who restore rusty cars with crazy mileage and few previous accidents...

This one needs fresh paint, rear bumper and interior... the most important/crucial part with 036 is body and body panels ...

However, unlikely anybody will do so in Europe

Then sell it as accident-free and unmolested! :)

I suppose that could be true….One could argue that the car has never been in an accident/crash.

Well…… it HAS been in a *thermal* accident though….
Well E500E is getting extremely old and rare, so for the prestine/fresh car that has been restored to MBZ standards I would not mind to pay big reasonable dollars.

Also would not care if it is been thermal or minor physical accident .

To me it is much better to have restored car with clean body (with OE parts and high standards) rather than accident free but worn out and rusty.

Just think about 300SL cars, people restore them literally from ash. Nobody cares if its been in accident or so. Only matters quality and condition.

Of course for collectors and Pebble Beach activities there are other few original cars... but for the rest regular folks restored work just fine

Cost to restore this would be prohibitive, on top of the ~€13k purchase price. You'd need a parts car to source the burned wire harnesses, a complete interior, hundreds of hours of labor, plus paint. I guess there wouldn't be much point investing in a high-end paint job, so there's that cost savings. Still, for €30-35k you could buy a pretty nice car that wasn't torched...

I agree, and top of that, some parts are NLA, the resto project is going to be a nightmare. Already there are people frustrated over parts that is hard to obtain.
