Chrome door handles

I have seen it in the wild - and can't unsee it.
Terrible. Infact don't add any aftermarket plastic chrome to a w124 - it is perfect as is.
Absolutely yes the chrome arches are not good. Very popular here to cover up rusty arches which just makes the problem worse.
Funny thing is I have a 230CE parts car in which had came with chrome arches. The most queries I had were for those blasted arches.
Someone turned up and bought them used for £40 and to cover up bubbling arches. Tried to talk him out of it but wouldn't leave without them
The chrome fender pieces must simply look awful, but I wasn’t sure about the handles, as so many classic cars had chrome handles, I just had a flirt with wondering how they looked on our cars. I figured the reaction would not be positive.
Trivia: The early 124 chassis (1986-1989 USA model years) had plain door handles with no shiny bling.
The "first facelift" of the 124 (1990-1993 USA model years) brought a number of updates, one of which was a shiny stainless steel insert on the face of the door handles.
Other updates on 90-up models included the wide body moulding on the lower doors+fenders, pleated leather on the door interior panels for models with leather seats, and wood trim on the door+dash, to name a few.
