Clogged water passage on drivers side of 1997 E420 M119

Recently purchased a one owner 1997 E420 with 130,000 miles and have encountered an overheating problem. I found the overflow line from the radiator reservoir was off and coolant had been flowing out this connection whenever the engine got hot. I am guessing the previous owner used some sort of stop leak because the coolant had a very yellow color to it and was thick. A local mechanic said it had a blown head gasket and the engine was trashed. I did a compression check and all the cylinders ranged between 130-160 lbs. I decided to remove the t'stat and water pump myself and found the water passages were filled with this yellow stop leak. I was able to flush through the main water connection on the intake manifold down through the water passage on the passenger side of the block where the water pump was. I can get no water out of the driver side water passage where the water pump was. I've tried forcing water through the clogged drivers side passage up to the intake manifold hose connection and vice versa. Any suggestions?

m119 or m113 ? just to be sure.
try the block tester dye for HG failure test first. ( thanks to Jon's advice )

also never tried personally but i feel the need in your case to introduce a coolant cleaner while flushing as water isnt working.

1997 will be M119.985 engine. Have any photos?

Remember there are drains on each side of the block, can you get water to flush out both sides?
