• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

Coming soon - San Diego North County GTG, 10/28/12??

Nice Stacey! I got a hold of a 500 Sport (giallo) back in 2011 as a temporary solution ... to the Abarth 500. Unfortunately, someone decided not to import the Abarth 500 with the sequential tanny as sold in Europe. Otherwise, the Abarth would be mine! We LOVE our Cinquecento! Soon, the right configuration for me (and my sig other) will be available.

I'm looking forward to meeting you at one of our local events.

Cannoli,

Please leave the cupcake at home and bring a real car.

Cannoli,

What part of my screen name makes you think I'd ALLOW a cupcake in my stable?

I'm looking forward to seeing you again.

I don't have a drive mapped out yet. Do you have a preferred route you'd like to take?

As far as eating...do you all want to eat breakfast before driving or would you prefer lunch after our drive?

I got flagged down at a local car meet by a guy who owns a 500 he did not bring. Says he may want to attend.

He said he is already a member (Germs500) or something like that, but doesn't frequent the board. I've only visited from my phone since then, so I haven't bothered trying to find him.

We had 9 in Portland back in Feb 2008 (T500 and a couple of others were there, but we couldn't get 2Phast or yvrbenz to show unfortunately), at the opening of the newly resurfaced Portland International Raceway.

But 13, damn that's good.

Here's my phots on the Portland gathering... http://www.500eboard.com/forums/showthread.php?1661-Portland-OR-E500E-Gathering-February-2008

This event is coming up!
Are you guys interested in grabbing breakfast or would you prefer to do a laid back, casual drive and then get lunch?

Glen et al ... There's nothing better than seeing each other and checking out the cars while drinking coffee (or other). It's a great combo. I suggest that after some time in Carlsbad, we take a drive to Escondido via the twisties along Elfin Forest / Harmony Grove and have lunch at either Stone Brewery or Mike's BBQ. Both open at 11:00 AM. Those coming down from Orange County can easily jump onto the 78 West to the 5 North.

Thoughts?

I visited stone a few weeks ago and I've got to say that it is a definite must-visit for any beer fan. Very classy restaurant and beer garden attached.

I'm all in for that one....beer fan, what can I say. But it must be real beer, not yellow liquid in cans........

Sounds good to me. Just hope nobody minds me tagging along in my Abarth ;)

I drove an old one once, in the seventies. Cinquecento w/ Abarth tuning. That cupcake rocked. You could go faster around the curves than a Ferrari. It was my Sicilian girlfriend's, Marcella. We drove along the Amalfi coast which is built for a Cinquecento (only). Then I met her father in Salerno..........that was the end of it.

Glen,

I'm with Cannoli. Lets have a cup of coffee and meet and greet check out the cars and go for a drive then lunch.

PLEASE CONFIRM WHAT TIME WE SHOULD BE AT THE STARBUCKS IN THE AM.

PS: Don't make it to early for coffee. I don't want to get up at 3:00 AM to make the trip.

Is 7:00a too early for you LA/OC members?

Personally, I would prefer 8:00 AM but I will go along with what ever you guys decide.

J-Sauce,

If that local car meet was in Riverside, the guy who flagged you down is my son. He mentioned it to me other other day, IIRC the meet was in UCR? Too bad we can't go because we are going on a Cruise leaving that Sunday Oct. 28. May be next time.

Ed

I'd also prefer 8am, but 7 is totally doable of that's what we decide.

Edcarls, yes, that was the meet. He told me it was his car! Haha I thought I recognized the Hellas with the euro corners. Hopefully he didn't reveal too much of my latest mods, I want to keep them under wraps until this meet. :)

Yeah, he told me your car looks awesome and mean!

He is correct it is also his car. When we go to meets he usually drives the E and I drive the SL. I'm trying to steer him towards decent enthusiast crowd and away for "the fast and the furious" and the "my-car-is-better-than-yours" crowd. He is learning.

What a Guy. Give a little / take a little.

I know anybody coming down from the OC thanks you.

See you at 7:30 AM

I'm sure that are a few more 500E / E500 guys in So Ca, if you can think of them please reach out to them and make sure they know about this.

I called Steve aka "szvook" and tried to change his mind but could not. Steve says he cannot make it and he is sticking to his story.

I will be definitely there in the morning and for the drive, will probably not make it for lunch...something came in between.....just crossed 570k today...looking forward to meet you guys

Yeah, sorry gents, but I'm out officially for this GTG. We got to make the next GTG in SoCal a bit north of OC...those early wake up calls (for me anyway) are reserved for track days. :rugby:

Count down only 17.5 hrs to go

Do we have anyone that could take some nice photos tomorrow ?

I treated my car to a higher end car wash today, there was lots of cool top line cars coming and going, but the E500 was the only one the staff gathered around and took photos of. I swear they spent twice as much time on my car than they did any of the others, mines not even a great example, but its nice to be noticed.

I'm bringing my photo gear so I will volunteer to shoot some pics for you guys. Just need to remember to bring my Tripod

Redred, thanks! I was hoping someone would have their camera. I plan to bring my suction mount and video camera to film the drive between starbucks and the brewery.

One little thing guys, and I should've brought this up sooner - If we are meeting at 7:30, it's only about a 30 minute drive to the brewery which does not open until 11. We will have about 3 hours of downtime! Fine with me, as it's too late to change the time now anyway, but we may have to find somewhere else to grab brunch if many of us cannot spare that much time. All can be decided tomorrow once everyone arrives at starbucks though.

I will be bringing a set of W201 roof racks I have for sale if anyone is interested. ;)

Also, I will volunteer as the liaison for the event so anyone without mobile internet access can call in if they are running behind or get lost. My phone number is (951)750-2507 call or text.

See you all tomorrow..
Justin

Hey every one! I'm sorry but I wont be coming this time for some unforeseen family things that I need to tend to. I REALLY hope theres another soon, I am really looking forward to seeing some other cars and meeting owners! Have a blast and put up those pictures!

Just got home from the GTG. Wow! Awesome turnout, it was great seeing old friends and making new ones too. We had ten E500E's show up and hang out for a few hours. Then eight cars went on a casual drive down the coast, then east through Solana Beach and Rancho Santa Fe, and finally north to Escondido and the Stone Brewery. I didn't take any pictures but others did and will be posting soon. Thanks again to everyone for coming out!

Thanks for setting it up- glad we got a solid turnout. I had a great time putting faces to names and checking out all the different things we have done to our cars. I frequent a fair number of boards and this is one of the best (if not the best) group of folks.

Sorry couldnt make the drive but looking forward to the next one. Maybe we can all hit the Irvine c&c in the not so distant future...
