I ran across this and found it fascinating. Use google translate.
The writer suggests that the front spindles take a great deal of weight and movement forces, and that over 200-300k kilometers, that these can be warped. He further goes on to state that he discovered this because he had changed wheel bearings, mounting the new bearings on the original spindles and yet the result was unsatisfactory.
