HELP WITH PART NOS. FOR FRONT ABS SENSORS

I'm doing an inventory of spares I have for my 500E.

I have two front ABS sensors - one marked L (I assume for left) carries a part no: 002 545 7826, and the one marked R also carries the same number (!).

I don't have access to the EPC, but according to an on-line parts catalogue, the numbers should be (L) 124 540 1617, and (R) 124 540 1717.

I don't know how I came by the parts starting with number 002, but assume they are good for my 500E? Does anyone know if the parts starting with number 124 was superceded with the parts starting 002?

The 124- part numbers are correct for the ABS sensor assembly.

The 002- part numbers are for the electrical connector housing, and yes they are the same connector on both sides.

Thanks for that! The 002 number was indeed printed on the electrical connector housing end of the cable - and it makes sense it would be the same whether left or right side.

I'm just curious - and this is me as an octogenarian(!) - but how can one know, without either 1717 or 1617 showing anywhere on the assembly, that it's the right one for a 500E? The electrical connector housing beginning 002 could be common to many MB cars?

Good question. I think the part number is usually marked on the wire itself (see below).

The metal mounting plate may also be marked L or R.
