Does anyone make a good reproduction sun visor?

My supervisors have deflated, and I can feel all the material inside them broken down. As I Google around, I can't seem to find a reproduction sunvisor.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

W124 sun visors typically last a very long time and don't break down.

What year/model is your car?

I'll snap a pic when I get home. It's 1992 with 60k miles. The interior is in great shape, and so is the vinyl on the vizors - its just "deflated".

Here are the pics

Mystery solved. That is not a 124-chassis sun visor. Someone replaced it in the past with a visor from another chassis - possibly 123? All 124 visors have lighted mirrors with a plastic cover that closes over the glass.

Might find good ones on eBay, but the ball/pivot/socket is often damaged... unless a seller guarantees it's good, and/or has a return policy, it will be gamble. But, these are NLA new so you don't have a lot of options.

Dave, I was just looking on eBay, and I found half a dozen W124 "claimed" visors that look just like mine, but most others are as you describe. My car was built in Germany. I wonder if it's a European thing. Either way, I'm upgrading to the style you described.

Mentioning this here for future reference.

Yup, all E500E and all 400E/E420worldwide had standard illuminated mirrors. North American-spec 124 have illuminated mirrors as standard equipment, for all years, all models. If you don't have a 400E/500E, and your car is Euro-spec (not built for North America market), it's possible it did not come with illuminated mirrors as @doolar stated above.

Illuminated mirrors look like this:

I'm not so sure about the 400E/E420 worldwide, my 1994 E420 sold new in Germany came without the illuminated sun visors. It didn't have courtesy lights in the doors nor rear reading lamps either.

Thanks for this post. I bought a new cabriolet back a few years back. I noticed that there were great similarities in some of the coupe/cabriolet and my 91 SEC coupe. The visor clips are the same style, just more robust material and so is the visor itself yet the set ups are identical. I had forgotten this but I had thought about checking this out further in size and scope/price of parts as getting old stock replacements that break soon may be more costly than new that fits. again off topic for the w126, but just a thought..... these things have not changed in design over the years, perhaps only materials improved....

EPC only shows illuminated visors for the 034 chassis, including Europe. But, the EPC is not infallible...
