Hello,

i hope ever one is doing great , i have a E500 1994. I was wondering if any one knows where i can purchase the center console that comes on the E60 w124?

i look a lot like the SL R129,

thank you very much

As far as I know, the console wood that appeared on all 124s was of the same design, albeit with birds eye maple on the Limited models and burl walnut on all other E500Es.

Any wood that looked like the 129 would be aftermarket wood that someone ordered for the car.

FYI to the original poster:
There is a forum that is specifically for PARTS WANTED, rather than posting this in the "PARTS FOR SALE" sub-forum. I will move this post to the appropriate sub-forum, but in the future please be cognizant that a PARTS WANTED forum exists, immedately below this one.

+1 on @gerryvz ’s comment above. AMG Japan was known to do this aftermarket mod on their E60s.

If you do find something please post it herefor future knowledge. Good luck.

I saw them in MBworld blog for sale but that was before something around 2009

This is not a factory E60 AMG console, no such thing exists.
these were aftermarket SL-Look console.

Piling on... those consoles are aftermarket. Never came off the Mercedes production line. Any E60 with that console had it added post-delivery.

I've seen far more E60s without the 129-style wood than with it. If it was available from AMG, it was a special order thing, and not part of a standard E60 package.

MB *never* offered wood of that type, on any W124.

I must say that there were really nice aftermarket upgrades in the 1990s and early 2000s. My favorite was the victor steering wheel, S600 Grill and Remus exhaust. All from high quality German companies.

That seems right.
For all the E60's I looked at over 4 years and also since then, I don't remember seeing any with that wood (may one or two from Japan, I can't remember), but as @TimL pointed out that article was '92 so its not a surprise that '92 and earlier "500 E 6.0" could have these since it seemed like AMG would do many "custom" things in that era.
I suspect from '93 on (when the MB/AMG cooperation agreement was in place) and they were officially making "E60's" together (i.e. you could order E60 from some MB dealers) and the combined MB/AMG offerings started to get more standardized, they came with the standard wood console.

I don’t think so, not at all.

I figured. I personally prefer the stock console, especially when the sides are recovered in leather to match the rest of the car just leaving the wood trim exposed. The previous owner of my car did an excellent job in achieving this much more sophisticated look, IMO.

Agree. My car will have this look as well. It's a must do for me as I can not live with the color the crème - beige fades to.

Well well well.... i took it as a challenge :D

Interesting. so is it Factory AMG or aftermarket? We know it is not MB, or is it? if it is what is the part number? Great detective work @036

Also seems that one is only for the manual A/C controls. Would not work on the other type of A/C controllers I guess. I have no interest just curious.

It is original AMG. And yes, you need another one, with climate control. I´ll have a look.

You can see this very console in the 500E 6.0 AMG press article of auto motor und sport (or one of these German magazines). It is original and quite rare as described. I was behind one for some time but after looking at it several times, I find the original setup (with the euro manual ac) much more appealing so I skipped it.

Yes true i found it for 4000 Euro. Although 2 years ago it was selling for 2000. They are increasing day by day. i feel that 1,500 is fine to pay not more.

Have Fun....
I`m myself just wondering, how quick and steep NLA or rare parts went up. For 1500 you might not even get "normal" 036 complete wood trim in new condition.
If someone offers me this console for 1500 i´ll let you know immediately.

Things are really getting out of hand, the value of most 124036 are not in the price range that commands a 4000 Euro wood console, 5000Euro headlights, 500 Euro rear insignia....
These are premiums more suited for a W100 or a 280SE cabrio... the market still considers the 500E sub-$30K car.

Yes true, the went up very high so weird.
Thank you

A commercial seller in Germany is offering these center consoles for 1700 Euro.

I reached out to him, as I was considering buying one. He sent me additional pictures, which I thought, I'd post. The consoles are, according to him, NOS AMG items and he has a total of 15 in stock (some of which have the cut out for the trip computer). I understood that all of them have the automatic aircon, which makes US cars a prime fit for these. You'll have to have the upper holes cut out, something which he offers to do if desired (or you send it off to people like Madera to do it).

Seller is super nice and professional, so if you are after one of these, it might be worth giving him a jingle.

Note though, that you will lose the center stowage box when installing these (that's what made it a no go for me).

I remember back in 2003-2004 when I thought the $500 I paid MB for the Limo Wood (with extra cutout for ASR OFF switch) was "all the money" ..... sigh.....

2003-2004 .... the good old days ... when BergWerks NOS and FGS kits were readily available, 500E tunk badges were $30 each, cherry AMG Monoblock sets were $1,200, Yurro headlights and lenses were cheap, $35,000 would get you a concours-level 500E with <25K miles on it, and you could order limo wood from MB.

And when @Jimbo began hoarding these parts for his 2021 retirement....

You don't know how good you've got it, until it's all gone....

Jimbo isn't a hoarder, he's a seller. These parts these days are better than Amazon stock.

What you hoarding Gerry? Anything cool?

What you hoarding Gerry? Anything cool?
It depends on what you think is "cool".

BergWerks FGS module, wirgin condition?
Fiend W124 rear sway bar?
RDM Tek upper strut mounts, wirgin condition?
5-foot-high stack of E500E CAN box computers?
Set of facelift E500 headlight lenses, wirgin?

yeah, got a few things.
But you should really be asking that question of gsxr, JC220, captruff, and those guys.

Don't sell yourself short G, you be one of the top hoarders in my book !!

5 feet high in CAN boxes? 80 or so owner manuals?

I didn't mention the first aid kits or owner's manual packages. Or stickers.

Those items tend to get fetish-y.....

You da' man G ! Gosh, who knew 30 year old band-aids would be hoardable stuff...

Better to collect dust in your basement then the salvage yards, right? I totally get it. :) (one of me parts bunkers; for laughs)
