Early Carlsson wheels, cone or ball seats?

Cheers all!

Completely forgot to order a set of lug bolts for my Carlsson 1/6. Measured the shank length needed... Went to https://otisincla.com/ site, found what I believe I needed, but sent them a message just to be sure. From what I remember, most Carlsson wheels I've seen were ball seated, at least the later models. But this staggered set of mine is cone seated ( at least that is what it feels like).

So I don't think i'm crazy, I spayed some primer on both, cone and ball seat lug bolts, and based on the mating/scoring I believe it is a cone shape seats?

Certainly don't want to make an "unsafe" ride... These are for R129, and M12 1.5 otherwise...

D,

FWIW, the Carlsson set that I had previously sent you pics of, used ball seated lugs.

Cheers Terry!

Thanks for that info, appreciate it! I wonder if this is the very early set that I have? I found one more citing in one of the forums of "...some early did have cone seats"... And judging by the the contact surface of the ball in pic above, I'm pretty sure it is not what's in my particular set. And found another post from our very gsxr showing the amount of contact on the bolts when properly seated here https://www.benzworld.org/forums/17655544-post5.html Looks like M12 1.5 45mm shank length I will be ordering tomorrow, that should get me the needed amount of tread protrusion to match the factory.

BTW, I never did get the pics of your 17" set, there was 1 attachment, but it was a photo of multiple buildings during the summer time, but no pictures of the wheels...?

Regards,
D

I have used "silly putty" (children's toy) pushed into the lug hole to verify cone or ball seat. Modeling clay or chewing gum with a bit of oil spread on the wheel surface to aid release will also work. My Carlsson 2/6s are cone seat.

Brilliant idea - thanks for sharing, Drew!

Hmmm . . . I'll re-send. Sorry for the mixup, I just assumed that you weren't interested in them.
No worries man, got them this time. I would have at least responded with go or no go, but appreciate it Terry!

Drew, thanks for the info, good to know, thank you very much, I knew I wasn't going krazy! I did actually use an old clay bar last night with some water, definitely a cones, ordered my bolts this morning!
