2016 will mark the Tenth Anniversary of the MB Owners GTG in Centerville. It's kind of hard to believe it's been going on this long. What originally started off as a couple of forum members from Houston and the DFW area meeting up really blossomed into something great. I told someone it's kind of like a family reunion of Texas MB fans. Some of you have been coming every year for the past 10 years. You know who you are! ;)

For those of you who are new to this GTG, caravans leave from Houston, the DFW area, San Antonio, and the Austin area, and meet in Centerville at noon at Woody's Smokehouse just east of I-45 for a BBQ lunch. The private dining room at Woody's will be reserved for us, as will the parking lot on the side. There will be signs directing us. After lunch, we'll head down to Fort Boggy State Park for the Show and Shine. The pavilion at Fort Boggy will be reserved for our group. Admission to Fort Boggy is free. Show and Shine Awards will be given out based on People's Choice.

This year, I've slightly modified the Award Categories. Starting this year, the Best Vintage Model Award Category will include all pre-1990 vehicles instead of just pre-1980 vehicles, as was the case from 2006 to 2015. Since the pre-1990 models have graduated from Young Classics to Vintage, the 1990s year model vehicles will now be Young Classics. The 2000-present models will be split into two categories: Best 2000-2009 Model; and, Best 2010-present Model. That means you guys with pre-1980 vehicles will have more competition this time!:)

If you want to bring parts to sell or trade, please feel free to do so.

Mark your calendars now! The date is Saturday, May 21, 2016. Last year, flooding in parts of the state prevented a lot of people from coming, so this year, we'll have a backup rain date of Saturday, May 28th just in case we have another severe weather situation.

Let me know if you're coming. Reply to this thread and on this evite link: http://evite.me/gaC4tg78pM

I am on for this, will drive the E500 and if I can get a helper, bring the C126 as well!

I should be back from London and ready to go. It's a fun event and would be good to catch up with the usual suspects.

Unfortunately can't make this year ... I'll be on a plane TO London that day. Hope to hook up with Bing after I land on Sunday morning...

Actually have to run up to Dallas so I will be making the Centerville GTG from Dallas not Houston.

I hope you guys have a good time. No troll there this year to unhinge the Banzworld attendees.....

I'm currently in Chicago and will be on the red eye home. I suspect that i will turn up in a very dirty E55. I've had a pretty busy travel schedule recently.

Fun times at the gtg, good to meet everyone. We avoided rain but it was great cars and good food! Here is a few snaps:
155.jpg156.jpg157.jpg158.jpg159.jpg160.jpg My 94 E500 was voted the best 90's car this run! The coupe next to me got best 80's, the stunning SLS and SL won the 2000 and 2010.161.jpg162.jpg

Yes nice to meet everyone and see the varied cars! That SLS was right up my rear end on the drive from Houston.

Nice not to be scalding hot like it was previous years when it was in July!

It was good seeing the old faces and meeting some of the new ones. Here are some pictures taken by Paul Bruce who showed up in his R107 280SL 5 speed.

I was in the I-45 traffic jam heading north and saw that R107 280SL as I was heading toward the airport. In fact he slid in behind me for a stretch in the traffic jam before I decided to get off and take the feeder road to get off at Hardy Toll Rd. I figured he was probably heading to the gathering.

I was driving my SEC.

Funny, as when I was talking to Paul he mentioned seeing an SEC that looked exactly like yours on the way.

There was a distinct lack of 036's there. At least Louis was there to represent!
