• Hi Guest !

    Welcome to the 500Eboard forum.

Since its founding in late 2008, 500Eboard has become the leading resource on the Internet for all things related to the Mercedes-Benz 500E and E500. In recent years, we have also expanded to include the 400E and E420 models, which are directly related to the 500E/E500.

We invite you to browse and take advantage of the information and resources here on the site. If you find helpful information, please register for full membership, and you'll find even more resources available. Feel free to ask questions, and make liberal use of the "Search" function to find answers.

We hope you will become an active contributor to the community!

    Sincerely,
    500Eboard Management

So I made two of my friends buy E500Es in the last few months, and have another few acquaintances with them so I decided to organize a GTG on 20 Jan (with 27 Jan as the weather day backup). Location/details TBD but it will likely be in SF or Marin (5 of us are in SF, including Jlaa). Let me know if you'd like to join and I'll be sure to include you on the comms, or post on this thread if there's interest on the board.

"So I made two of my friends buy 500E's in the past few months"......sounds like a case of car shaming going on?? Haha.

Two cars came across my desk by happenstance, both of which were nice 2-owner lifelong California cars and I matched them with friends who were looking (or in my estimation, should have been looking...) for 500s.

Sunday's forecast has rain but that may change. Will make the call as it draws nearer. Likely meetup spot is Pier 30 in SF but I will need to go down there and reconnoiter the condition of the lot prior to our meeting up. Will continue to post updates here.

OK, we are confirmed for next Sunday morning 27 Jan. Location is Berkeley Cars and Coffee (it's a great event, no wankers, pretty tight attendance list which is done on an email basis): a parking lot at the corner of 4th and Virginia streets in Berkeley. Plenty of space. We will convoy out of the city if there's interest, meeting probably at 0745 at Pier 30, assuming the lot isn't occupied for some other purpose, which I'll check this week. Alternatively, feel free to meet us there. The event starts officially at 0800 although people arrive before and after that.

Is it still a go at Pier 30 tomorrow morning at 7:45?

Yessir. Had some cancellations but a couple of us will be there.

It’s always great to see an 036 GTG. We need another one here in SoCal.

The 500SL we got, who belongs to which 036 car?

My .036 is the DB199 one with the 18” BBS SL Monoblocks and CH oval.

DB199 with chrome monoblocks: ab150

DB199 with Evo II wheels: Bill Walsh

DB199 with 8 holes: dionphaneuf

DB744 with magnesium AMG Aero IIs: not a forum member to my knowledge but I know some guys on here know him. He’s an active concours guy who just sold his award winning 420SEL.

DB744 with color coded door handles and E55 monoblocks: don’t know him, he just happened to be at Cars and Coffee so he parked in the W124.036 section.

I like the old school House of Imports Plate frame!!

You needed some malachite and signal in those pics!

Nice all the same too!

Unfortunately (Or perhaps I preferred to....) I had to take my kid to her game Sunday morning but I was virtually there in FB-group-GTG-group-message!

Thanks for organizing this psporto ... btw for all who were at the Legends in Monterey in 2018 ...

Is the same gentleman who placed one position ahead of my car in class 6 with his white w126 420SEL .... and he has now sold his w126 and acquired this w124.036. . :-)

I will note that his 500E has the proper European look rear trunk lid, without the US spec rear license plate filler. ;-)

I'm delighted you noticed! I try to wear the frames of the original selling dealer whenever I can find them. Plates too. Hence the Claridge's frame and 2W plates on the SL.

Good eye. We discussed his plate filler: he just removed (and retained, of course) the panel and found the correct trim strip for the bottom edge of the trunk lid from a US 300E. The filler panel didn't appear on US 300Es until the 1991 model year.
