Engine and tranny mounts

So i have to do some general maintenance which involves engine mounts, and tranny mount. I see autohauz has Lemfoerder brand for $93.75 each 2 per car, but parts.com list front and rear mounts, $211.50 and $80.25 respectively, what is the right mount set up?
I am also going to do the tranny mount OEM for $102 on autohauz, and brake rotors and pads on the front as they are below spec. Any input on the brand to use for rotors? or any other sources.

thanks
neil

DO NOT use parts.com for parts. Try MB Asheville, or the Classic Center for the best prices.

Secondly, the Lemforder mounts should be just fine - they are a trusted brand and MB OEM. I'd probably just go factory (through MB Asheville, Classic Center or Lionel) for the rear mount.

Zimmerman or ATE rotors are excellent brands, but for the E500E you probably have to go with the factory rotors, again purchased through the sources above. Note that 1992 and most 1993 cars are different rotors than late 1993 and 1994 model year cars, so you need to specify the right ones. The 500E takes two of the same rotor; the E500 has separate part numbers for left and right front rotors.

I'd go with Akebono Euro pads (available from Amazon and many other sources) as they are excellent and make very little brake dust.

ok Gerry thanks for the info, so just to be sure there are 2 motor mounts that are both the same?

Neil,

Here is some screenshots from the EPC of the motor mounts and brakes. The images are a bit blurry, I don't get them better.

You should prepare a forum signature with info about your car, that makes it easier to give correct information. However, I have enclosed the brakes info for both the 500E and E500.

You may not need all those brake parts for a pad replacement, I just highlighted them in case you should need them. As for the motor mounts, I recommend replacing all bolts too, they'll be out anyway - so then you're done for another 15++ years.

Neil,

The Lemfoerder mounts from AZ are actually re boxed Boge, which is OE

The even have the white X's on them. I've bought 3 sets over the years, best deal on OE mounts

You will also want to make sure you get the new motor mount bolts and new bolts for engine legs to the block as detailed in Arnt's image above. You may also want to replace the rear heater core hoses while doing this job. I think the part numbers for those are 124-830-54-96 (passenger side) and 124-830-74-96 (driver side) but I'm not certain.

I think he means you want to do the rear hoses before the mm.
Note the factory bolts now are 18mm, not 19mm you can get 19mm at your hardware store. Never needed any but the top bolts.
The top bolt on the drivers side you will need a deep offset wrench, flexgear wrench or other offset.
To get it loose. No direct path.

Motor mount is same for both sides.

Keep in mind, Lionel (or Scott) at Mercedes Benz of Gainesville meet or beat
any other online dealer price.

Then they ship FREE 2 day Fed Ex, no one, not even Tom at the Classic Center will do that.

Make sure to mention you are a 500Eboard forum member
Mentioning my name also helps.

RockAuto has Lemfoerder engine mounts for $70.79 ea right now. Just ordered 2 today. Shipping to me was $11.87. Don

It is a PN changeover on the motor mounts at a certain engine number (around engine #5100?)

But what is the difference between them?

Where do you see another mount part# ?

There's only one part number, 124-240-2617

WOW - today appears to be MY DAY! Too busy with too many screens at the same time, I was mixing with the engine support for some reason.
Sorry for bothering you peps, forget the whole question.
:lolhit:

There are lottsa pics of the 124.034 mounts and DIY replacements, but there is nothing mentioned on how to "see / measure" if they have failed. On other non-V8 124 chassis there is a described way to measure the distance from the bottom of the mount to the chassis. Is there such a procedure for the V8 model 124's?

Its on this site somewhere, Dave (GSXR) documented it with photos.

If it looks like this, it is failing/failed. Review the pic displaying the separation/deterioration of isolator material from housing perimeter, & measurement of centerbolt location deflection due to this deterioration.

The picture, which is appreciated, is for the tranny mount. I'm looking for the engine mounts...in situ. I've looked at all posts by GSXR and can't seem to see it mentioned ...great one on the wiring harness though..

Also , generally you will feel a subtle vibration at idle like when sitting in traffic. Trouble is, unless you're finicky and know your car well, a lot of people live with it and just think it's normal to feel a slight vibration on their butt. Trust me it's not normal, you will feel the difference once replaced. Saying that , even if you don't feel anything and the car has done 80k+miles you should replace them anyway , as many here would support . And don't go cheap, replace rear support mount as well ( so called tranny mount)!!
