500E Engine Fans Stopped Working

Hello, yesterday both of my engine fans just stopped working when I was out driving. Thought it was a fuse first and looked in the fuse box but could not find any burnt fuses. Is the fuse located somewhere else that i have missed? Thanks in advance!

Check for the broken wires at the fan resistor if the fuse is ok. Fuse for the fans is located outside the fuse box, behind the brake booster. There is also different type of fuse box depending on a model year, but it should be located somewhere here.

If you have the non face-lifted version—and it looks like you do from your profile pic—look for the strip fuse closer to the driver’s side strut tower. Start there anyway. If that’s good—and I’m presuming it’s your low-speed fans not working—then jumper the leads going to the red switch on the receiver/dryer with a paper clip and with the key on (engine off). If the fans run you either have low refrigerant or a bad pressure switch on the receiver/dryer. If the fans don’t run, listen for the relay to click when you jumper the leads. If you don’t hear it, your problem may be with the relay behind the fuse box. If you hear the relay clicking but still no fans, check the wiring to the big step-down resistor behind the driver’s side headlight as @Kridre stated. Check the resistor too.

I have two face-lifted cars and the strip fuse in the picture above is for the cockpit blower fan. Maybe @gsxr will chime in if I’m wrong.
