ETA Rebuild

Has anyone had an experience with the following ETA rebuilder?

WOW $200 for a 034/036 ETA rebuild?? Got my attention here if these guys are reputable! Replacing the eco junk wiring and checking the function of the rest of the internals doesn't look that difficult on these IF you have experience the right test equipment and can get the correct replacement parts. In particular producing a factory style non eco junk wiring harness with the correct connectors to just solder in is the main thing. IMO this is possible to pull off at this price point if you can do enough of them to make any $.

More dies in these ETA's than JUST wiring.

I would find a recently born date code and get all improvements, low mileager. Ebay they seem to be ~$300 ish.

+1. Generally speaking, dealing with rebuilt anything is never as good as just getting a good used original part in good condition.

But most the time, it is just the wiring. I do think that sometimes it is the wiring that damages the actuators. Having its low voltage/low current sensors and switches shorted to raw power and ground every which way can't do them much good...

Depends entirely on the builder Gerry. A GOOD builder can turn out a far superior product to what a normal production line will turn out and do it with consistency. Note I said a GOOD builder who takes time and watches tolerances not a fly by night shade tree.
The big question with this group is how consistent is the quality and what do they check on the build.
PS I spent years building transmissions and the units I built for myself had MUCH tighter tolerances than anything off the factory line + superior clutches and plates. Can be done and done right but can be and is done may be 2 different things.
Example would be a high end collector car restoration. The high end restoration will be if done right the superior car to what it was when new from the factory as it will be essentially a blueprinted car.
In my case a new ETA would not be an option because of the cost and let's get real here non eco junk wired used replacement late non ASR ETA's for my 034 are as scarce as hens teeth. A real alternative here to new is needed.

Bummer you don't have ASR. A good late-datecode ASR ETA just sold on fleaBay for $200... had been out there for weeks.
