It was really nice day today in the OC about 90 degrees and sunny so I took my black beauty took it to the local car show. It's really mostly hot rods but there was a beautiful 91 Acura NSX parked next to me. My 500E drew a lot of attention and complements. Also I met another 500E Owner that I know from past Cars & Coffee events in the past. He didn't have his car with him. He actually had 2 500Es but sold one. Unfortunately I didn't remember his name but I know his champagne car was sold and showed up on the 500Eboard when it sold.

@a777fan, I’ve had it since October 2004. I’m the third owner. I must be loosing it.:banger:

I have no clue :detective:about the plate or what the 3DWD even means or @Jlaa on the B-L-O-C-K?
You have column 1 row 3 with California in block letters 👏👏👏👏, versus anything that came after that with California in script 👎👎👎

I hate the script. It looks so disorderly, which is the antithesis of Sacco’s design. The script is appropriate for a period Chevrolet Beretta GTU, not a w124.

Nice Terry!

3DWD are the four first digits in your license plate. Since plates are generated in a sequential fashion, idiots savants like myself can roughly tell when a plate was first issued. For example, I purchased my first car in the fall of 1997. It was a black 1988 Acura Integra LS, and at the time was issued CA license plate 3WRR626. That lets me know your license plate (3DWD…) was issued prior (likely well prior) to fall of 1997. Other contextual clues, like the switch from BLOCK lettering to the silly script (which @Jlaa equally hates and mentions above) can be also used to pinpoint a range when a car was last issued plates.

Since you purchased your car in 2004, you must have been able to keep the plates from the previous owner? 2004 plates would have been well into the 4-series, perhaps even scratching the surface of 5…

@Jlaa, @a777fan,

I finally see said the blind man. I guess I never paid much attention to it. Thanks for clearing that up.

I do like the white plate. It came with the car in 2004. If I ever get busted for no front plate it will be gone. I never received a matching front plate.
