WANTED Front brake caliper for early 1992 500E Any condition

I need a front brake caliper that is no longer useable . It can be completely inoperable, broken mounting tabs, stripped bolts just about anything. The caliper is going to be dissected (cut into sections). Any referrals to a salvage source would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Larry

There were 2 caliper types available. The originals were lightweight Brembos, many were replaced under a TSB for excessive nose and an iron Ate was installed. The same Ate iron caliper was used on all early R129 500SL/SL500 so there are a ton available dirt cheap. I hope you don't plan to cut up a Brembo...

Thanks for the heads up! Is the Brembo caliper aluminum. If not is there a definitive way to identify an iron Ate? I did find a used caliper on ebay no indication of the manufacturer.

Yup, Brembo is aluminum and looks very different vs iron Ate. The caliper on eBay is iron Ate and appears to be the correct 300mm caliper.

The price is lousy though. Click here for one that's half the price, plus a Make Offer option, and might include new SuperChina pads.

YOU DA MAN, Big thanks for keeping a newbie from doing the wrong thing. Turns out that my car has the Brembos, so no need for a caliper to dissect. Solution for 2mm interference to back side of aftermarket wheel will require a different fix.
Thanks again.

Is that the "wow that was close" emoji?
Yep, 2mm interference ain't good. You want about 2mm air gap. Unfortunately, the best solution is changing to different wheels that clear properly. If you are lucky, a 3mm spacer miiiiight just get you enough clearance, along with longer bolts. Can't use a 5mm spacer because you lose the hubcentric function that keeps the wheel centered.

gsxr and the others will keep you out of the weeds for sure.

I spent my youth next door in Farmington. You may be familiar with Motorwerks in commerce. They have experience working on E500E cars should you need.

Thank you for the notes everyone. I no longer need a caliper to dissect. The good news is I've determined that my car does have the Brembo calipers so any modifications in that area is no longer the plan. I realized that I needed to update my residence. I lived in Birmingham Michigan for nearly 3 decades and Motorwerks was one of the non-dealer places that had 500E experience. We are now in Portland and the 500E Board is a life saver.
Thanks
