Re: Mercedes G-300 G-Wagon Gelandewagen - West Palm Beach

That's a real old one, and a diesel to boot.

You see what kind of prices these things command?

Re: Mercedes G-300 G-Wagon Gelandewagen - West Palm Beach

Wow, I love that one. I really want a diesel SUV. But nothing out there suits my fancy.

Re: Mercedes G-300 G-Wagon Gelandewagen - West Palm Beach

Not bad. For $2200, I'd give it a try.

:pc1:

WAIT - I just realized this is an OM617 diesel. I saw "G300" and thought "OM603".

On second thought, you couldn't pay me $2200 to own another OM617-powered vehicle.

Dave its $22,000 not $2,200

I am not seeing why Dave wouldn't be interested in such a vehicle, given that his uncle and mentor is Kent Brockman Bergsma, who is an expert in the 61X generation of MB diesel engines.

I know. I just assumed that was a typo. I mean, it HAS to be. Especially with a non-turbo OM617.

5000 pounds with 80hp? This thing would collect spattered bugs on the rear instead of the front.

:D :D :D

80hp, wow that would suck. I hear of people putting the engine from my E300D (606?) in there. That would be underpowered too.

What would be a good diesel for a G wagen's weight?

At a minimum, the OM606.96x turbo with ~175hp.

Preferably, the OM629 4.0L V8 diesel with 314hp and 538 torques. Stock. It can be chipped to downright silly levels. THAT would be a proper diesel G-motor.
