You are bidding on my 1993 Mercedes Benz 500 E. The car is charcoal Grey with a light grey leather interior.

I have owned the car since September 2005. I am the second owner of the vehicle. The car was originally supplied to an eye surgeon in Dallas Texas and was delivered new by Park Place Mercedes the official dealer in Dallas. The car was originally put on the road on 29 Nov 1993 and was titled with 50 miles on the odometer. The car was serviced regularly by Park Place in Dallas.

I had always wanted one of these cars and searched a long time for a one owner vehicle, and more importantly, a one owner that had been meticulously serviced at an official Mercedes dealership with a stamped service history. I bought the vehicle with approx 118,000 miles on the odometer. The car was traded against a new Mercedes back to Park Place motors in August 2005 by the original owner and I bought the car via an internet trader in Sept 2005. I had the car inspected and also checked all the history with Park Place before buying. I have a copy of the title transfer between Park Place , the specialist and myself as well as the inspection report. I also have a copy of the original title from 29 Nov 1993.

I have loved owning this car and it drives superbly . The exterior is all original and the car has never had any paint or been in an accident. The underneath of the car is very clean and all the original VIN bar codes match so it is all original.

The handling and torque of this car has to be experienced to be believed. I am a MBCA member and have been a huge Mercedes enthusiast all my life. This particular model in my opinion is the best engineered car of its generation . I have looked after the car at all times, it is not my daily driver as I am lucky enough to have several cars and no expense has been spared in the 6 years I have owned it. The car has all the original manuals and service records from new and a full set of keys. The tool kit is intact and all accounted for.

The car has the bose system and I added the Mercedes CD shuttle with carrier box. I also added the new original AMG 17 inch wheels and Kuhmo low profile tires. The tires have covered about 4,000 miles and have plenty of life and tread on them. The AMG wheels are unmarked.

The wiring harness has been updated and I have done the following to the car in my ownership.

Oct 2005 . (119113 miles)
Rebuilt the hydraulic power steering, replaced front fog light lenses. Fitted new European spec headlights and smoked tail lights. New fuel sender unit. Replaced Fuel pressure regulator.

Nov 2005.
Added new centre piece to front bumper to replace licence holder.

Feb 2006. (120277 miles)
120K mile service, transmission serviced, al filters replaced etc, replaced leaking transmission cooler lines, transmission cooling hose.

April 2006. (120544 miles)
New diverter valve, air pump , ventilation hose, air pump hose and oil canister. Front wheel bearings , coolant level sender unit.

July 2006. (121201 miles)
New Left front tie rod. New front brake pads and sensors.

September 2006. (121770 miles)
New Air injection pump and hose. Mercedes CD changer installed.

June 2010. (123853 miles)
Serviced oil and filter, replaced rear view mirror, exhaust and muffler hangers.

August 2010
Replace front grille badge, recharge air conditioning, replace antenna mast and mount.

September 2011
New battery fitted.

All work under my ownership has been performed by My Mercedes place a Mercedes independent specialist in NE Georgia. The car shines brightly and is in superb condition for a 18 year old car with 124708 miles on the clock. The car is sold as is with no warranty implied or given. A: Thanks for your enquiry. The paint is original and has one tiny dent on the drivers side rear weel arch. I have tried to show it in the pictures but it is so small it does not show up. The car does not have any scratches . Some tiny rock chips on the front lower valance and hood edge. The clear coat is fine and in tact. No dengs or rust spots. The car was in Texas for 12 years and Georgia since,you are not going to get any rust spots. Everything on the interior is perfect except for the drivers seat bolster which I show in the pictures. The center arm rest leather has been worn on the underside front edge. The wooden center consol has some very fine cracks in the laquer around the shift lever. The rear retracting wooden cover in the centre of the rear seats has some minor cracks again in the veneer. That said you cant really see them when sitting in the drivers seat. The dash board and everything else is fine. The drivers door cards have both suffered from the leather shrinking in the door pockets. Both have been repaired, see pictures. (This is very common in a 500E) I am not sure what you are expecting and I understand your questions however you do have to remember this is a 18 year old car and is not new. EVERYTHING works, see my listing NO EXPENSE SPARED. That means what it says in my world. As far as I am aware as I write there are ZERO issues with the car. If there were i would have them fixed. I am anal about my cars and bikes and never leave anything other than perfect. My ZIP is 30506. At this stage I cant really think of anything else to tell you. I know this car quite well. The owner was considering one of mine when He found this one. I also know the owner of the service facillity mentioned. He has worked on my own cars. I have looked the car over while on a lift 5 or 6 years ago. I believe his ad to be accurate. If anyone is interested i would be glad to look at the car again as it's very close by. Dave is of course correct about the lights.

...by the way, one of the techs at the mentioned shop owns an 11 sec. c class (search 11 second 202)

I have record of this car being for sale in August of 2005, located in Houston Texas with 118K miles on the odometer. Here is the description I have of the car in my database:

8/30/05: Looks to be a decent car for the money asking price $11,500 BIN. Dealer badge on right rear decklid; normal scuffs on gear shift lever and driver's seat, but overall seems to be a good car for the money.

UPDATE 7-5-07: On eBay again, mileage 122,798, in Gainesville, GA. BIN $20K but only brought 11+K with 7 bids. AMG Mono II wheels. Seller says bought in Sept. 05, and did following: 1. 4 brand new 17 inch original Mercedes AMG wheels with brand new Kuomo Tires. 2. Brand new European headlights. 3. Brand new S600 grill. 4. Brand new clear European Turn signals. 5. Brand new European clear rear tail light assemblies. 6. CD shuttle and hanger installed 7. New front fog lamps 8. Replaced crank position sender and complete new sender unit. 9. Power steering/hydraulic suspension pump complete rebuild with new parts. 10. New front wheel bearings. 11. Replaced coolant level sender. 12. Front bumper strip. 13. New Air pump, diverter valve, clean air check valve, air injection hose , ventiulation hose, and air pump hose.

THIS CAR HAS BEEN LOOKED AFTER PROPERLY ALL ITS LIFE AND I AS YOU CAN SEE ABOVE HAVE CONTINUED THAT TRADITION. IT IS ALL ORIGINAL NEVER HAD ANY PAINT AND NEVER HAD ANY PANELS REPLACED OR BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT THAT I KNOW OF AND I THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED THIS CAR BEFORE BUYING.

Current issues (from seller): 1. THE CENTRE ARM REST AS SHOWN IN ONE OF THE PICTURES IS MARKED AND SCUFFED ON THE UNDERNEATH. 2. A: Hello, I'm glad you asked these questions since I forgot to mention in the description. It has all new front European specs, Bumper, Headlights,Turn Signals, Grill. Also Tail Lights. The muffler is all I replaced performance wise, It has just a little deeper tone. The Whole car was checked by Mercedes Benz of Greensboro and nothing wrong was found. As I described I have lots of receipts dating to 2005 for repairs that were needed to keep the car in 100% proper condition. I will be glad to fax you all these receipts. Thank you. Eddie .

Beautiful car. Does anyone know if the alloys have spacers on them? They stick out and fill the wider wings nicely.

Also yes, as mentioned above non-original Bosch euro headlight lenses (you can pick them up here from ECP for quite cheap) and also performance exhaust.

I prefer the 500E lenses and the headlamp lights. Shame about the grey interior, black or cream is much better IMO.

The current eBay ad says the wheels have spacers. The headlights are an easy fix for ~$500 but adding the wipers would be a bit more work.

Muffler looks too far to the center? What's all this with a euro bumper- I thought they were the same? What's the deal with the air intake tube on the passenger side? Is that one from a W140? Fuel lines are not in the clips and parallel the bulkhead on the drivers side.

Strange to buy a dream car and only keep it a year?

There is no Euro bumper, that's just a misinformed owner. Passenger intake tube is original, driver side is a new replacement. I did just notice that the oil dipstick may not be correct... it should have a gray colored handle, photos appear to be an orangy-color handle? Could just be a bad photo, hard to tell.

Overall the car looks decent if you like the color combo.

Fyi , E500E OE euro headlights are Hellas. Are u sure u get these from ECP ?

I think he meant that the "wrong" lights currently on that car may be Bosch. (??) The standard Euro lights/lenses were made by both Bosch and Hella and they are relatively inexpensive. The E500E lights/lenses were Hella only and are not particularly cheap.

Bing - as above, the "wrong" headlight lenses can be bought from ECP relatively cheap - they are Bosch units.

We replaced the LHD ones on my old mans E500 a few years back with a fresh set from ECP. The ones on there were not original E500 anyway but they gave issues during MOT as they were LHD.

That car was pretty tired but we had loads of fun owning it, reg plate K478 OUF if anyone knows of its origin. Sold to a gentleman from Gillingham, Kent.

OIC and I Agree ! Standard/non E500Es lens you can pick up almost anywhere and a lot of owners stick these on to pass MOT or some just plain ignorance. I had to order mine for Left hand traffic (RHD complience) from germany as I wanted proper E500s ones .

Agreed - the original E500 ones look much better!

Just sets off the front end properly - E500 lenses, headlight wipers and fog lights really make the 500 stand out.

They removed the service history from this new listing. Looking at the info shown in the previous listing, it looks as if the car is due for some typical .036 consumables. Some fluids have not been changed for at least 9 years either. The interior and exterior look good and certainly not abused.

This is the car that started it all for super sedans from Germany. If you are already browsing this listing you are aware of this cars roots and assembly and design by Porsche. I get stopped every day I drive this car with enthusiastic compliments. I can not get over how many people recognize what this car is wherever I go.My car has is constantly being photographed on the parkways when I drive around where I live. I have taken this car to several specialty car events all over the North East where it has earned nothing but praise and my car was also featured on the Road and Track website as one of their editors just fell in love with it and couldn't stop taking photos at the last event I attended.

This car clearly marks the end of a hand built money is no object philosophy for Mercedes Benz. Good 500E are becoming tougher and tougher to find especially honest well cared for cars like mine.

Very Rare Car in Outstanding condition. I am not a dealer but an enthusiastic car collector and have enjoyed this car daily for the time I have acquired it from a prior collector down south.. I am not desperate to sell it however I currently own 12 collector cars mostly all pre 1970 classics and I have recently acquired a Ferrari which will take the garage space of this incredible Mercedes Benz by the end of this summer. I just do not have the garage space and refuse to leave this car outdoors even in the rain.

We have every single ownership and service documentation from the cars first oil change to present. that's 21 years of documentation and this is a car that has been cared for since new. It was a Texas car its entire life and there is NO RUST or issues of any kind. I have looked for 6 years to find a car of this cosmetic and mechanical quality in these colors and I may regret letting this one go. Do not let the mileage fool you because I have flown and driven all over the US looking at 500E with half the miles which leaked, ran horrible, vibrated to no extent and had every single piece of rubber dry rotted, electrical faults and cracked interior wood etc. Most Low mileage cars will require massive mechanical work to make them up to snuff unless you want to keep the car parked in storage.

This car has 100% original paint work with no scratches, dents.
