5 or 10 years from now when this site is long gone
Well, this site has been around since the night of November 30, 2008. It’s now June, 2021 and the site is still going strong.

Hopefully it won’t be “long gone” in 5 or 10 years, but I guess anything can happen. 500Ecstasy.com lasted from 2003 through about 2008, then on and off (mostly off) for about 18 months after that.

it does beg a good question though — who will keep this site going when I kick the bucket or decide to sign off for good after I build my house up in coastal Maine and start sailing and traveling the world after I retire?

I’ve been on since ‘11 I think... I hope it’s still going... but we‘ve seen how the internet is... people will have forgotten this car is a cockroach.

I'm confused. Is he referring to himself in the third person, or does he not actually own the car...?

The third person reference is so awkward.

Even weirder …. What’s with the lamenting about “writing off” 50K of inventory as depreciation? Why is that bad? That’s a bonus for the owner - the owner “artificially” depressed earnings and reduced his tax liability by offsetting his income with that depreciation.

And, why would the owner sell the car for “virtually $1.00”? Just because he depreciated for tax purposes has no bearing upon what he could sell the car for. If he sold the car for USD $12K (as an example) he could do so …. and then pay the tax-man depreciation recapture on that.

Has this person been watching too much Kramer / Seinfeld?

I'm gonna need to smoke some of this and really think about that. And is Corvair a bad car or something?

There are multiple posts about this car in different Facebook groups. The one GSXR posted is not the thread where Mr WackO started tossing insults my way. His insane rants sound like the same ravings we saw in the previous for sale advertisements, so I suspect its the same person

It is not totally surprising when one has literally used every known mechanism on the Internet to sell their overpriced car, and are now on Round 2 of them (hoping that the memory from Round 1 has faded and people forgot about the car), that a person would be desperate to sell and tossing out insane rants too.

Didn't we peg this car as being worth around $14-15K, salvage title and flood history and all?

Yes that was the general consensus, assuming it passes a PPI at a local Benz dealer or a in depth inspection. With all the lies and falsehoods spread about the car, I would want to verify functionality (especially the top) and condition (if I were interested). That bright red interior though, really cuts down the pool of buyers, its not even the right pattern for a facelift W124

Indeed! And while I personally like this particular color combination, these seats from very early, M103 fitted cars - not a fan of the look for sure...

D

The absurd asking price aside, the car doesn’t look horrible for what it’s been through.

The absolute jack-a$$ behind the wheel is what is making it SUPER difficult to unload. With the picture he’s painted of himself via these posts, I doubt anyone would be able to be around him long enough to finalize any financial transaction.

Keep the posts coming tho. Trolling trolls is where it’s at. :pc1: 🤣

You buy the seller, and from there you either get paid to drive the car, or pay more to drive it; your choice when you choose the seller.

Few people understand this.

The “cockroach cab” scurries out of its dark lair to make another appearance !!! The car that will never die!!

Is Dick Pelota still the owner/seller of this car? Looks like the price hasn’t budged downward in the last 2+ years. It still has further to drop, unfortunately for the seller.

New marketing spin "*Verified 1 of 1, unmodified Euro-spec'd A124..."

Interesting title history over recent years, no change since 2018. Currently titled/registered in Montana, likely since it can't be registered in CA. Appears to be a "permanent" registration which is why there are not annual registration records. Dunno what the 2018 Arizona record is about.

Blast from a recent past:

That's one way to wash a title

Was his post and he was definitely selling it in another post

And what's interesting are the rebuttals and how everyone should just enjoy our American cars like we can't afford the German ones

Looks like the price had slid down to $25k/OBO per the screenshots above, which is a far more reasonable number from the $60k+ it started at.

I'm curious if this has finally sold.

:whistling2:

EDIT: As of January 2026, there are still no new title/registration records since 2018:
