This is un-used, it has some surface scuffs on the top from storage only. I have the wheel well bucket that goes with it also and is included....you can't use the OE 500E bucket, but it fits in the 500E no problem with the W140 bucket.

$75 plus shipping for the whole deal

I have this modd on my car and I think it's a nice one to have.

Highly recommended.

Cheers,
Gerry

Will all W140 spare wheel tool kits (many available on eBay) fit in a E500E?

No, they are not a direct bolt-in.

You have to have the W140 round plastic "tub" that screws into the trunk bottom and holds down the spare tire. This W140 tub is a bolt-in, and its top-side diameter then accommodates the W140 tool kit. The stock W124.036 "tub" is not quite large enough to accommodate the W140 toolkit, nor does it have the hold-downs that the toolkit fits into.

Cheers,
Gerry

As always, Gerry is 100% correct. I have two sets of these W140 tools sitting in my shelf (one with open molded foam that holds the tools and one with hard plastic case enclosure containing the molded foam). The W124 bucket is too small to accommodate the the tool set. Now, my question is: can the W140 bucket fit in the W124 spare wheel?

Yes, it fits the 036 16" spare wheel. Remember that a lot of 140s used the 16" wheels too (though perhaps different offset). The 140 bucket is definitely a bolt-on (screw-on?) for the 036 spare. I don't believe it will work with the 15" pedestrian 124 spare wheels, though.

Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry,

Thanks for the confirmation. But what about the Bellino spare gas can, does it fit into the W140 bucket when the tool kit is used?

But what about the Bellino spare gas can, does it fit into the W140 bucket when the tool kit is used?

Great question. Also, does anyone know where to find the W140 sized bucket/tub that fits down into the spare tire???

I don't know about the gas can. I see them at all my usual junkyard stops throughout Europe; they are very common there.

I've never gotten a gas can simply because if I filled it with gas, it would probably be years before I ever had a need for it, and the gas would likely be old and rancid. Not to mention potential leaks and smells with gas in the trunk.

And more importantly, I use the valuable "bucket" real estate for the true essentials: a roll of toilet paper (something that I keep in the buckets of ALL my Benzes); spare fuses; a blanket; couple of pairs of gloves to keep hands clean; flashlight; and so forth.

All that said, while I am pretty sure the gas can fits fine in the W140 "bucket," I'm not 100% sure that the W140 toolkit also fits OK. Although ... the tool kit fits ON TOP of the bucket. I just don't know the clearance between the top of the gas can and the bottom of the tool-kit+fold-down plastic well cover.

Perhaps someone can comment, though likely few if anyone have both the tool-kit and gas can installed on their car. My best guess is that it works together OK though.

Cheers,
Gerry

Hello.

Here is some Bellinos for sale on Ebay.de and Ebay.com:
http://www.ebay.de/sch/i.html?_nkw=...s+reservekanister+bellino&_osacat=0&_from=R40
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odk...3.m570.l1313&_nkw=Mercedes+spare+gas&_sacat=0

The two on Ebay.com are really high priced, it's prolly a rare item in the US? Better prices on Ebay.de, but I guess it's hard to get a used can shipped by air freight due to fuel residuals and explosive risk, maybe a new one can be shipped.

About essentials in the car - just as Gerry I bring gloves and a torch, but also a telescopic lug wrench, a 100x75x50mm tree block as a jack base, a plastic refuse bag, some rags, and some small pouches hand cleanser. I spread all this around the spare wheel so the wheel bucket is in fact free. Yes, it's likely that the fuel in the Bellino will be forgotten and get old, it has to be changed one time a year. For me is that can a nice to have thing.
