Hi Mel,

Talk to our member DarkStar ... he lives in the People's Republic of Austin. It's sort of a bluish-purple island in a BIG red sea.

Indeed ... :welcome: :welcome3: :welcome5:

It's a good idea to get rid of any California license plates as soon as possible.

Is this TX move something temporary OR permanent?

Nothing's ever permanent! Luv SoCal too much so we kept our house there and rented it out. We did buy one in Austin though so it will be at least a few years. Will be back pretty often to visit family and friends.

Hope to see some of you at USGP!

And be ready for adding an ugly sticker to your windshield... Hey, nothing against the GREAT STATE, I just don't get along with stickers on my cars.
Texas just a few months ago mandated a new law, reducing the sticker count on all cars from TWO stickers (a registration sticker and an inspection sticker) to a single, combined sticker.

So, at least that reduces the ugliness by 50%.

Oh, and you have to have your car emissions-tested and inspected annually, rather than every two years as the West Coast states do. Sort of an annual ritual.

Cheers,
Gerry

I'll probably be in Austin during August or September, so let's try to get together and I'll plan to take you to my very favorite BBQ joint in Austin !!

Did we ever locate the Indy mechanic in Austin? I need someone on VW for my daughter's bug.
