Got My Finnie

Dan,

You got that car shining like a “NEW PENNY”

You’ve been working hard on this beauty and it’s paying off. Keep up the good work.

Take Care

No thanks. I saw where the external regulator for the alternator is located on one of those last weekend. What a PITA to get to!

The thing that 99% of 6.3 owners miss is keeping the alcohol canister in the front full, to keep the water out of the air suspension system !!

That, and the periodic "schmutz release" that you have to do at the air tank bottom valve. The 6.3 schmutz release is the automotive equivalent of expressing your dog's anal glands ......

When I had my 1962 300SE I was fanatical about keeping the dryer full and draining the tank. Did it weekly if not more often. I got schooled on that early on.

Dan,

You’ve worked hard and long on this project. The car looks great!!

Take a rest and enjoy for a while.

lol

You made this very nice, and expected nothing less from you. Great work!

Thank you. Let the nail biting begin...

While I never intended to keep this car long term, I’ve put it up sooner than I had planned. I bought it the expectation of using it as a learning tool to re-familiarize myself with the W111 chassis in anticipation of finding a nice driver quality W111 coupe down the road. It’s more than served that purpose, definitely wearing me out in the process in my zeal to get it sorted.

That being said, we’ve got a family member who is going to receive medical treatment to address a debilitating disease, a portion of the treatment of which is not covered under their medical insurance. Selling the Finnie will allow us to fund most, if not all, of the expenses and avoid having to pay them out of working capital, so to speak.

Not a big deal, but a decision that just makes a lot of sense given the situation. I have absolutely no regrets taking this direction. There are plenty of cars out there - family first!

Dan
