GROUP BUY: 500E "Euro" Headlight Lenses

Glad to hear it. Everyone should have received their lenses and/or boots by now, so this GROUP BUY should now be a wrap.

Yesterday I confirmed my trip to Munich for November, so I will be posting a separate thread for this small lens/boot GROUP BUY. I will ONLY bring home TWO pairs of lenses -- no exceptions. Mirror boots will be unlimited pairs. Prices should be as I quoted before ... around $140-145 shipped per boot. This cost is $100 less than the DISCOUNTED cost for said boots in the US, and less than one-half of the MB list price per boot (currently over $330 per).

Cheers,
Gerry

Hope you got your headlight & lens home OK Klink. Thanks for saving me the shipping and all that.

And thanks for the BBQ dinner. Hopefully you enjoyed the mini-tour of the Honcho shop. You were geekin' pretty hard on the G-wagen :)

:gwag:

Yep! That's my favorite era and configuration of G-wagen. Had a short but great time at Hacienda Honcho!

Thanks again and next time you're in town dinner, beers and cigars are on me.
Hope to do another session at Greater Trump's if possible. Unfortunately I won't be visiting Portland this year at Christmas, as my mom is coming to visit us here in Texas from Seattle.

Cheers,
Gerry

Well, I did sort of get a "woody" when I saw the G63 and the G550 in the showroom of MB of the Woodlands with you !!!

Gerry,

I had no idea the mirror boots were so expensive!!!! I apparently bought my last set for my 92 when they were at a "discounted" rate (one month only.) Put me down for a pair on your Munich trip, hope all is well.

Regards,
Chris

My wife and I are also buying a place up in Port Ludlow, WA so if you're going to be in Seattle anytime let me know.

My lenses came in today, but I haven't been home to open them. Thanks again Gerry! I need to get you that extra $50 already. Cheers.

I know this topic is closed but perhaps someone can answer a question. Am determined to put Euro-spec 500E headlamps in my Euro C124 300CE-24 SportLine. It already has Euro headlamps. To effect conversion, do I need L and R lenses plus the headlight housings (L an R) or just the reflectors?

You will definitely need the lenses. I think for the reflectors, you have to modify the pedestrian W124 Euro lens. Also you have to change/convert the "fog lamp" inboard lamp to become a "pencil beam" driving lamp per the 500E.

Also, the 500E lamps have a special reflective surround around the interior of the housing, that the pedestrian W124 lamps don't have.

If someone has done this (converted pedestrian W124 Euro headlights to E500E headlights, please post (preferably with pictures), including the modification to the inboard "fog light" to a E500E pencil beam.
