Has anyone seen this web site ....

Never seen that site before. Thanks for the link!

Dr Shawn Seitz & Sam Seitz. I wonder if they are members here as well? I wondered where that car went.

I just downloaded his 500E Appraisal. I'm surprised that it's quite a bit lower than I expected. That beautiful Euro import was only appraised at $26,800.00

That's actually higher than I expected. Click here for more info. Personally I think the 2.47 LSD was a downgrade (with a stock 5.0L powerplant anyway), but at least that is easy to fix. I'd put a realistic value in the ballpark of $20k, and if all the issues were corrected, possibly mid-20's. I don't think there is any documentation with the car but I'm not sure about that.

They're good guys/neighbors to the North of me.

Agreed, odd to have the whole site Flash (?) Haven't seen too many like that....

Jimbo, do you know the new owner, and/or have you seen the infamous black car in person? I'd be curious what you think of it.

I like the URL, though. If he isn't aware of this forum (i.e., he isn't a former member who started his own board out of spite) it might be a good idea to contact him. The E500E community is already scattered as it is, I'd say its best to try to get as many people active in one place as possible.

I did see him once and the car at Ken's shop maybe last spring...I spoke briefly with him. Seems like a good dude. He travels alot he said.

I actually didn't know this was the Oregon car that was for sale for big $$s a few years ago until it was mentioned here. It has different rims on it now. I guess the joke is on us that we thought that guy would never sell the car for what he wanted, but I don't know/care what he paid for it.

The car looked great IMO...

I tried to get him , Shawn, to come to a GTG...but it hasn't happened yet and I think he's just not into hanging out with other owners, doing car shows, MB events etc....no biggy. It appears like his site is just something for fun; doesn't appear he is trying to re-invent anything or compete....he might be aware of this site thru the PO , as we seemed to have bashed the hell out of the PNW seller. I didn't care/ask if he was on here; let's assume he prolly isn't.

Heck, good for him; there are a few/3 or 4 Audi and other MB forums I'm on...why not have another US-based 500E site?

I was told the car ended up selling for roughly half of what EuroClassicMotors was originally asking, i.e. low $20's instead of low $40's. Pretty reasonable, and definitely a cool car. Looks awesome in the photos. I'm guessing the new/current owner had someone create the website for him, especially if he's a busy guy traveling frequently. BTW, the original PNW seller probably has no idea what happened to his car after he sold it to ECM for low teens via AutoTrader. The ECM guys are in SoCal / LA area, not PNW.

Gotcha Dave...seems like he took quite a hit on the asking price, which even in my optimistic eyes, was nutty.

Low teens was a steal IMO. It really looked in nice shape and was super clean.

Heck yeah - the car was a steal at low teens when it first showed up on AutoTrader, although that was before the facelift, repaint, and all the upgrades / modifications. Still was a great deal though, especially with the factory oil cooler, uber-rare trip computer, etc, etc.

The only reason I remember is because I found the car on AutoTrader and drooled all over my keyboard. I posted the info on 500Ecstasy but unfortunately I didn't save the original listing as a PDF. It sold pretty quick, then re-appeared a short time later in SoCal with the $42k pricetag, along with fresh paint, etc.

There are not many true Euro-spec .036's in the USA, it's definitely a rare bird!

Dave I thought that a true Euro spec car would have the dual climate controls but this one does not .......

Manual climate control was standard, but automatic climate control was optional on all Euro cars. The original owner of this one must have wanted all options, or just thought the automatic climate control was nifty, or something...

prolly the reason why he's not here. You know what we're like here, Jimbo
