Help identifying two connectors behind head unit

Hello guys

I have searched near and far and haven't quite found an answer to my question. My car ('92 400E) has the sound system option (810) and I have replaced the original HU and amps with an aftermarket HU and amp. Everything works great, original Bose speakers are a treat as well. I was able to indentify all the wires behind the HU except for the two connectors which I have marked in the picture attached. Has anyone an idea what these are for? They can be plugged into each other, but I don't think that's how it's meant to be, hence the wires of both plugs merge after about 10cm. Right now they are not connected to anything, and I have yet to find something that does not function. Automatic antenna goes up and down as it should too.

Thanks in advance
Sam
