HELP WITH HEADLAMP WASH/WIPE ?

I've had the car for 12 months, and only just noticed that the headlamp wash/wipe operates when you use the windscreen washer - whether or not the headlamps are on! I assume that normally the headlamp wash/wipe would work only when the headlamps are on?

This in itself is not a disaster - but more annoyingly, when the headlamp wash/wipe works when you use the windscreen wash without the headlamps on, they don't park properly. To get them to park in the "down" position, you have to turn the headlamps on, and then depress the column screen wash, after which they will park properly. (Hope that all made sense!).

Any simple answer, anyone!?

Its a faced-lifted late 1992 build for the European market. Sorry, not quite sure what you mean with "6 pin running lights"!

The headlamp washers should only turn on when the headlights are on (and you wash the windshield). If they also wash when the headlights are off, something is wrong.

Euro headlights have a 6-pin connector including a pin for the city light (running light). USA-spec lights have a 4-pin connector without the city light function. This shouldn't be related to your issue, I don't think.
