Moderator edit: The HHT setup shown below does not have a cartridge that works with the W124 / 400E / 500E chassis, see post #9 for details.

Mercedes Benz HHT for sale

Been in the garage for years, plugged it into a Sprinter van approx 3 years ago and worked all ok. Complete with Truck and passenger car software. Very hard to value. Open to sensible offers and open discussions. Let me know what you think it’s worth. Would prefer collection. Wirral UK.

As you say, difficult to value and rarely used these days due to the HHT-Win emulator being used in all cloned SDS setups these days.

A few more modules would be nice.

You would probably be best putting it on eBay with a starting price of £250 and see what it goes for.

Curious - what other modules could be available?
Also - is there a benefit of the HHT over HHT-Win?

@Peters500 - are those the only 3 modules included?

There are a plethora of modules. In the original post photos, I'm only seeing a 140-specific module for passenger cars, and the later "B" module for late 90's cars with DAS (203, 208, etc). But, no cartridge with 124 software, and no "A" cartridge which combines multiple different chassis into a single cartridge. (The "A" cartridge had larger capacity and replaced all of the older, individual, chassis-specific cartridges like the 140-only item seen here.)

The 140 cartridge will allow communication with some 124 modules (like LH and EZL), but will not recognize 124-specific modules (like ABS/ASR, E-GAS, and T/LLR). For use on the 124chassis, you really need either the old 124 cartridge, or better yet the "A" cartridge, which will be difficult to locate (and also needs to be English language if you want to understand any of the menus/options).

Also - is there a benefit of the HHT over HHT-Win?
HHT is faster, plus no waiting for SDS to boot/load/etc. Functionality is identical. HHT-Win has the latest/final versions of all software.

My SDS is very quick running XP off an SSD plus I have the ability to print to pdf from my laptop so actually HHT-Win is probably slightly better overall (caveat - I have never used an HHT so I'm going off anecdotal evidence):

The HHT is definetly faster.
This is a gem for sure...and for grins, i always ask my old employer, the MB dealership, when they are selling theirs. They tell me everytime,i am first in line to get it :jono:

Holy crap this is amazing. As much as I'd love to have one of these, I'm pretty sure my wife would NOT be OK with the purchase 🤣

If I still had a car with the 38 pin port (ex: the 1994 SL320), I'd probably buy it anyways, even if it meant sleeping in the dog house for a bit LOL.

Gerry what are the official "rules" surrounding this i.e. when does a new member get PM rights?

Is it time, a certain number of posts etc.?

Thanks.

It is a combination of time aboard, and the number of posts, correct. We do not disclose the exact numbers, because that would give spammers easy targets to "game" so they could get past the threshholds and then begin scamming/spamming.

This has reduced scamming attempts here almost to zero. We've had literally zero problems with new members sending established members scam/spam PMs since this was instituted.

Even if a new member (who is a scammer/spammer) slips past the countermeasures and signing up their personal credentials for 2FA, the aforementioned threshholds stop them from sending PMs. Most don't even make it (or want to pursue further) to the 2FA level.
