Here is an antenna , it has four pins in a row which is different from W124 but it comes with the plug so that you can wire it yourself.

PM me if you need it. :cheers1:

It is removable but you cannot put it in old one . I bought it for my car but do not want to deal with the adapters or wiring. So decided to find old style 3 or 4 ? pin pattern antenna.

Does anybody have one by chance ? I would grab one .

There is a wiring adapter to convert a late antenna with inline connector, to the older square connector. When I installed a new Hirschmann in my 92 500E, it included the adapter. The old antenna was toast anyway, and a brand new one for ~$175 was worth it at the time. Photos are here... note this style antenna is NOT for the 94-up models. As you can see, the new antenna does NOT include new grommets/seals, those must be purchased separately if the old ones are fossilized.

Yup I saw these photos and you told me beofre about this adapter. I checked at stealer back that time and price was something around $70 for just an adapter. No way I will pay for a small piece of wire $70+ . In addition, the newer style antenna the one on the photo has a bad upper sealing system. What I mean the old style does have a nut but the newer style just pop in/out which I do not like at all.

Re: OWNER - baviking1

baviking1, if you don't need the old antenna, please let me know... I may be interested if it's fixable!

I think the one I cobbled in there is out of an SEL450; i.e. it doesnt fit (but its yours if you want it). The antennae are always destroyed or gone in the yard 124's here...

Re: OWNER - baviking1

I see them usually all the time in the yards here; they rarely get snagged. I will start grabbing more of them from the later 124s. There's one right now in a 1995 E320 in the North Houston LKQ yard.

Re: OWNER - baviking1

Really? Wow. I've had the same issue with the P+P yards in CA... the antennas are already gone, or are junk. Don't ever recall finding a good one intact.

Yep! I have at least three antennas right now from late 124s and late 126s, sitting in my garage, complete. I think they charge $10 or $20 for them. Once in a while they are busted (mast busted off, etc.) so I don't bother with them, but they are generally well protected in the trunk so in good external/physical condition.

Re: OWNER - baviking1

Interesting. Check the 124 antennas you have. The ones with a threaded top are for 92-93 (and very early 94 production, like both of my E500's, grrr).

The ones with the unthreaded "ball" top are mid-94 through end of 124 production. I have one of each on the workbench, gotta take some photos.

Re: OWNER - baviking1

I now suspect GVZ of donning a ninja disguise, and going from city-to-city pulling, hoarding, and cornering the market on W124 antennae. Sort of like when fellow Texans the Hunt brothers made their historic run on the silver market...... :-)

Re: OWNER - baviking1

Now that I think of it, I have two late 124s and two late 126s. They are different units, as we know, but I would expect that the late 126 units would be the same as the 500E....

I mainly pull them from late 124s as that is what both of mine are (a 1994 and a 1995). Maybe I better stop by the yard on the way home and pull the one that's there before the car goes bye-bye. Now that it's light out until 7 PM or later I have some daylight for this sort of thing after work.

Do you have by chance 1992 style antenna ( I mean square plug one) ?

You can get a brand new Hirschmann 92-93 style from Amazon for $158 with free shipping (click here). Note it doesn't include the new grommet/nut/etc, that must be purchased separately from MB as a kit for ~$60 if your old grommets are bad. I may just bite the bullet and spring for a new one. Old units have a limited lifespan, and replacement masts are $60+...

Still this one is the replacement one with the adapter. I want to source the used original one. My grommets are pretty good but it won't be a bad idea to put a new ones.

Re: OWNER - baviking1

Need to check. I'll be out in my shop tonight so will take an inventory of my antennae.
Here are the three antennae that I could put my mitts on immediately. I've got at least two more up in the attic.

Looks like the one with the red marks is what I need . Let me double check on my plug.

What is the PN ?

Does it work ? (look dusty)

What is the condition of the circuit board ? (no corrosion)

Please PM me price, shipped to 55414 .

I scored another nice Hirschmann antenna out of a 1990 300SEL (W126) today at the wrecking yard.

There's another one still in the 1995 E320 sedan, but it looks like the mast (extendable portion) is broken off, but the body of the unit looks fully intact. I could snag it if needed....

Here's the one I got today.

Cheers,
Gerry

Would anyone have access to the page on EPC or the W124 FSM showing how the antenna is mounted? Just found out that previous owner or his mechanic rigged the unit up in my car & I would like to bring it back to correct. I cannot access EPC here in Canada.

This is a factory MB replacement antenna for the original unit, and follows the later pattern of Hirschmanns that was adopted in the W124 models from 1993 onward. Note the adapter cable. If anyone needs it, it is for sale.

Damnit you guys are all so handy! I suck at this DIY stuff, I'm such a neanderthal when it comes to wrenching and repairs.

Anyway, the antenna on my 92 has had it. It recently broke clean off at the grommet and only the little bit of antenna that sits inside it remains.

I wanted to 2x that this was a suitable replacement, as it seems from this thread there are a couple of these and not all are all plug and play.

Much appreciated guys!

Nope, 124-820-58-75 is for S124 wagons.

You need 124-820-57-75 for a 1992-1993 500E.

Given the cost of a new mast ($60+) which is usually shot after 10-15 years, and the high failure rate on used antennas, I'd shell out for new at $150 $165 delivered:
http://www.amazon.com/Hirschmann-W0133-1601556-HIR-Power-Antenna/dp/B001G68E4Q/

The grommets/seals are not available separately, if they are damaged, you gotta buy the "kit" for ~$60, shown below.

I think he wants the square-to-rectangle wiring adapter shown below, maybe? If so, I don't know of any source to buy them.

I think I may have one or two of those lying around. I'll have to check the parts stock to say for sure though.....

@gsxr is there any way the 124-820-58-75 can be adaped to fit a '92 500E or early w124 sedan?
Curious if all I need is one of those wire adapters or if I have the wrong unit entirely.

I'm not certain. Some of the different Hirschmann antenna assemblies can be installed in a different chassis with some part swapping. The electrical connector can be adapted as needed, and the outer/body grommets can be swapped. The mounting points and length of the mast tube are what's critical, along with the original cell phone switching box, if you care about keeping that intact.
