INFORMATION ON THIS CAR

I don't have anything on this car -- it has not come up for sale in at least the last 7 years or so. It appears as if it indeed was a one-owner car.

Couple of items of interest with this particular specimen:

a) the headlights have been replaced with Euro lights, and 1994 US / Euro headlight wipers.

b) the stock, two-piece BE1432 radio, which was standard in all US-model 1992 and 1993 500Es, has been replaced with an older-model BE780, which is a one-piece radio. It must have been re-wired, at some expense. The interesting thing is that the BE780 doesn't sound NEARLY as good as a BE1432, though the 1432 is an evolution of the 1480.

In any case, this is one of the better cars I've seen over the past few years, cosmetically. It puts the green Hatch car absolutely to shame, from what I can see. Hopefully this dealer isn't as greedy has Hatch, and is charging a reasonable amount for this car. I'd value this specific car (judging on the eBay description and photos) in the mid-$20K range. I'd pay $23-25K for it if it checked out good and didn't have any major issues.

Cheers,
Gerry

Gerry is right on as you can always count on !

Just keep in mind things like this........

There was a rare color E500 that was orginaly from Canada that sold on Ebay, it had 60K miles or so, it sold for a good price. I missed it but did hook up with the new owner after he got it, his wife did not want him to keep it. It looked pretty good in all of the photos on EBay, but in person it was a mess !! It had BAD paint and body work all over the car, worst duck tape and bob wire mechanical work, and the inside needed so much work ..... it was just a crazy mess of a car. The new owner thought it would cost way more to even make it 1/2 right than he paid for the car, I just walked away in pain.

ALWAYS..... YES ALWAYS HAVE A PPI DONE !!!

I like to get the writen OK from sellers that if I win the bid I can have a PPI done and if all checks out ok THEN I will buy the car. Any good seller with a good car will do this. Keep in mind that mosts shops will not do much if any as far as checking out the body and paint, that may need to be a seperate inspection, eather way for $200-$300 you can have the car fully checked out and it's well worth it.

That was the Rosewood (Canyon Brown) car, right? I saved the info here. It looked GREAT in the photos. I feel sorry for the new owner...

Congtrats man .... Tell us more ..Where are u from What man you buy a 500 and when do you get it ???

i was very lucky. I live in CT and my godfather who is very particular and a car guy lives right around the corner. test driven, check out and verified to the best ability. car is very clean.
they are changing the wiring harness for the motor and updating to the appropriate radio.
godfather is going to handle the transaction and inspect car before put on a trailer.

i wanted a performance luxury car that would not break the bank. how can you go wrong with the build quality.
i have the availability of 5 mechanics in my area. in a way it is a simple modern car in comparison to the techo festive cars of today. lower taxes, lower insurance, safety, reliability(somewhat) and fun. For $22k you cannot go wrong in my mind.

Wow, congratuations it seems like a really nice car.

Look forward to hearing your comments when it arrives at your door.

Well done.

I like your logic on buying the car. Makes perfect sense to me. You will love it. Hopefully you will dirve it lots.

Thank you. Going to be my daily driver. Probably around 10-12k a year.
I am driving a 2008 335i which I love. But, the buyout on the lease is about $30k. This 500e puts me in the black by 8k and lowers my taxes, and insurance and gives me a hell of a car.
In this economy being self employed I can put more money in my pocket and have a hell of a lot of fun.

CONGRADULATIONS!!!!! :welcome:

I know you have been posting for a while but now it is OFFICIAL.

I think you got a great car for $22K. That low mileage means a lot to me. You should not have very many problems with it. At least nothing major. It's hardly broken in.

Look forward to your initial impression when you receive it.
