Just had to post

Hello,

I'm new in this forum and I need some advise regarding a 1990-1995 500E front seats. I noticed that all adjustments for car seats are on the door panels. I have a 1991 300 CE which have the exact controls on the door panels and was wondering if the 500E seats wirings and connectors are compatible to my 1991 300 CE? If so and if they are compatible, is there anyone out there that has the front seats for sale? Thanks in advance for any feed backs.

The wiring is compatible, but the seat bases (frames with motors) will not interchange. You would have to swap the 500E cushions on to your existing bases. You would also lose the ability to fold the seat, for access to the rear seats of the coupé.

Pics here may help a bit:

500E (or Sportline) seats are not easy to find for sale, and won't be cheap. Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the great info. Simple and direct. Really appreciate it! btw, what is the main reason why the seat base will not interchange. Is there any way around it, to make it fit? Modification?

Hello fellow members,

Does anyone know someone who is selling a set of black front seats from 500E from 1990-1995? I know it hard to find one, but just asking (just in case). Thanks.

The V8 bases are ~1 inch narrower, as seen in the photos linked above. The bolt holes won't match up. There's not really any reason to keep the V8 seat bases anyway, there's no advantage. It's straightforward to swap the cushions. And, unless you find seats locally, it will be much easier & cheaper to ship the cushions/backrests without the bases/motors.

Remember that 300E/E320 Sportline models have the same seats, except seat heating is optional on the 6-cyls. And, the 6-cyl Sportline have bases/motors which will bolt into your coupe. You'll need to do a nationwide search for this stuff on all the MB forums, eBay, Cragislist, Faceplant Marketplace, etc...

Hi @Jikian! Welcome!

You'd probably do yourself a favor browsing through the contents (and sub-forums) of this site first, determining if the question you have is already answered, and then if not, posting in the appropriate sub-forum. For example, your question about the 500E seats would have been more appropriate as a WTB (Want To Buy) ad in the 500E parts sub-forum. You'll get more hits and responses than you will reviving a 7 year old thread on a completely unrelated topic.

Enjoy!

Thanks for welcoming me to the group. I did get a helpful reply and glad to know that this is a great and supportive group. I've been advised that the seats would fit but I will need to use my base with the 500E seats and that the back part of 500E seats will not fold forward, so I will not have access to the rear seats.

WTB at the sub-forum? How do I get there?

If you look on the main forum list, you will see a specific WTB sub-forum for parts requests.
