Engine bays, pics ,tips and tricks

Hey there people :)
I just wanted to post a thread where you may leave a picture or two of your engine bays of your beloved e500e.

No engine bay looks the same..some like em shiny...and some like em to look like they have been through Sahara and back .Every picture is as good as anyone elses.
If someone have any tips n tricks for ANY SUBJECT regarding "how to " stuff in the engine bay..it would be a nice addition to the pics themselves.

My engine bay I like to keep clean and fresh lookin.i usually clean the engine bay at least once a weak, using both some silicone spray, at the moment also Meguiars "engine dressing".
I think the way to keep the plastic fresh,,or bring back the freshness in the plastic..it takes some treatments of maybe "overdoing " it first...to get the "softness" back into the plastic.
Next project is to tackle even more of the yellow coating thats spreaded around in the engine bay.I have done alot of that already..but still not done.

Here is a couple of pics of my engine bay.

Which products did you use for cleaning and restoring your bay?

hey man

i just clean the bay with silicone spray,,the plastic and rubber bits that is.

but very recently i discovered that there is something called "engine dressing"....which i kinda like..but it is supposed to be used in a "spray on and leave it there" situation..
but that i think makes the plastic look TOOOO wet and overdone...so..i just use the engine dressing to freshen up and clean away the dust...and i wipe it off ,,and it leaves just a fresher surface.

for aluminum stuff...ive used penetrating oil and some fiber"cloth"...to buff off corroded parts.

but the way i got it to look like this..is just multiple cleaning sessions really...using the stuff i just mentioned :)its not done in just one go,as it was proper dirty when i got the car.

Here are a few of 600Eric's engine bay

Well...actually i was gonna say " fuck!!!!.

but thats abit raw word in here..but damn i like that.Thats how its done..and ive done on my other cars..but here we talk countless hours AND MONEY..

but really..that build right there just brings a tear in my eye :)

ONE thing i notice though..is it seems to have the same "fitting" problem i had on my car when i bought the new windscreenflusher tank"..the new part is actually different cast or mold in the bottom fitting..and they dont fit in the bracket welded in the bottom...
Which make you have to modify the bottom bracket,,or else the tank will be sitting higher in the front of the tank..
Views?

love it

i think your engine bay looks very nice.
Abit unsure of the AMG emblem though..but thats most because of the placement...what about having two amg emblems below the Mercedes Benz emblems on the filterbox....that would be more '"proper" i think..refering to how the e60 Amg has ITS amg emblems.

but still..very clean engine bay mate :)

Appreciate your comments but still want to make it much better... At least replace SLS bottle to make it look fresher .

AMG stickers emblem nooo not really it is not an E60 so it is not good idea to put AMG all around LOL

come on..bring on the AMG emblems :hearts: you know you like it :)

but yeah,i do know what you mean,,especially with a particular discussion thread of mine ,,,fresh in mind :)

Lowman,

In the picture of the mono wiper, did you repaint it when you painted the car? She appears quite glossy - could be the shop lights

OK didn't think you put silicone over that piece but it looked quite wet, wetter than new.

hehehehe indeed wetter than new :)"laughs"
abit unsure on what i think about it beeing painted...but at least its a nice "custom touch" to make it stand out anyways.

No I am all for it. I painted my wiper arms on the C126. The original matte paint over 25 years dulled to almost an ash black. A semi gloss rattle made them look stock. A new coat of matte black for plastic helped the covers under the wipers, but it is a different setup on the C126. If needed on the 036, I would buy new if sonax or other treatment for plastic/rubber couldn't revive them accordingly.

Yes you got me , I do like AMG emblems but it is not good idea to stick them on every benz you got LOL may be I ll think about 6.0L for my 500E then will stick thousands of AMG emblems stickers logos and so on :jono:
