EXTREME SIMPLE GREEN AIRCRAFT AND ENGINE CLEANER

Anyone know anything about this cleaner? We can't get Simple Green here in the UK - unless you buy it in bulk, i.e. minimum of 10 litres - so I've ordered a 32 oz. spray bottle from the States.

It is said to be non-toxic, biodegradable, non-abrasive and safe alternative to hazardous chemicals and solvents. Apparently it is safe on metals (I believe it was originally designed for cleaning aircraft aluminium), rubber, plastic and paintwork. As I understand it, it is spray on, rinse off.

Sounds like the ideal substance to clean an engine bay - subject to not spraying too much water about!

Correct?

Hi Stephen - do you have access to a steam cleaner or "hot box" type pressure washer? That really makes the biggest difference to the end result. Only the very hot high pressure water gets the job done properly IMO

I was looking into various cleaners few weeks ago ranging from Pine-sol to Simple Green to LA Totally Awesome etc. to clean the hard plastic floor tiles in my garage. It was a slow process at spraying and scrubbing.
Will give this a try on the weekend to see if it works better. By the way, the stuff at the dollar stuff is pretty good too.

Meguires detailer All Purpose cleaner at 4:1 ratio or even stronger is Meguires detailer Super Degreaser again at strong dilution. is very good for engine compartment cleaning. Coupled with a proper steam cleaner it will shift anything

IIRC, Jono swears by "Spray 9" degreaser, and buys it by the tanker truck...

I used it on his recommendation and have found it to be far more effective than my previous choice, which was heavy duty Simole Green.

My W111 has a thick layer consisting of years of built up grease in a number of spots. It does require some agitation to get things going, but Spray 9 definitively does better on this stuff than Simple Green.

I like Superclean for general purpose cleaning and Zep Heavy Duty Citrus degreaser for really greasy stuff.

What is the difference between Zep Citrus and Zep Purple?
Do you guys use any of this stuff on the wheels? My mechanic uses super clean at the car wash bay for a quick rinse followed by the regular car wash brush.

I haven’t used Zep purple so can’t compare but the citrus cuts grease very well and is easily available.
