lower/starter harness compatibility

I was curious to see if anyone has noticed any major changes of the lower/starter harness from an e420 and a 400e.
It's rather difficult to find a lower harness for a 400e, because I believe they are discontinued.
However, I've seen that e420 lower harnesses are still available. I know they're both m119s but Mercedes will make small changes over the year and could be possible they're not the same.
I need to know if the e420 and 400e harnesses are the same before I go buy one or end up making one.
If it helps, the part number for a 94 e420 harness is 124 540 31 30. If no one ends up knowing, eventually I'll figure it out and post here what I find out.

All years of 124.034 worldwide use the same lower harness for starter / alternator, 124-540-31-30. I bought a new one last year from the dealer, AFAIK they are still available new today. Current list price is $155, around $120 from discount dealers, do not waste time trying to find a used one... just buy new.

UPDATE: The 124.034 lower wiring harness (p/n 124-540-31-30) is NLA as of 2016.

All years of .036 use the same lower harness (124-540-27-30), this is still available at the moment, $230 from Naperville, free shipping through 12/31/2016.

The two are not interchangeable, AFAIK.

I found one for $106.00. I'm also checking with the person parting out their 92 400e to see if he's selling his.

Any online site that shows the 034 lower harness as "available" is almost guaranteed to NOT have one, unless it's an aftermarket vendor who somehow has an old one laying on a shelf. They have been NLA worldwide from all dealers. The online sites cannot show inventory levels, you get to place orders and have them cancelled. As noted in the other thread, if you are unable to find a used one with a late datecode, you'll need to have one rebuilt.

Great to hear, I've still have my new lower harness, (124-540-31-30, I purchased a couple of years ago for my 94 E420), on the shelf, been putting off changing it out. Since these cables are NLA now, when I change out the old cable, I'll save the old one and send it to Jono as well, someone else with a E420/400E will need it sooner or later.
