Yes I have them in 2 of my w124's, they are genuine MB pedals. They spruce up the otherwise boring pedals!

Even non petrol heads spot the pedals & comment on them! By this stage the original pedals have wear on them anyway and these MB stainless ones are surprisingly inexpensive too :gsxracer:

maybe a should get a set...thanx :)

and here..is my newest video
Fusebox issue i had..when i replaced the fusebox...gauges n stuff did not work in the instrument cluster...put the old one back..and it worked perfectly

I personally like the orange pop off a dark car. I think the clears look good, but I prefer the POP of color.:txflag:

hey man

thanx..and i agree with you...ive always been a sucker for the orange blinkers..on many types of cars..i even stuck orange blinkers on my Ford Focus Rs..as i think it pops real good..and it just freshens up the look quite abit .

I did get NEW white ones too..in addition to the light tinted ones i already got
Now i just need to get the US spec ones. :)

What say guys ?!? Should we promote the Lowman upward in the 500Eboard hierarchy a level, based on his vehicle restoration success and anal-ness?

at least for commitment and enthusiam to the brand. Lowman represents the E500E community very well.

thank you very much ,Leadphut
Apreaciate your kind words alot :)

I mean it. Your car keeps improving in a good way; sans all the AMG swag, for instance. Your efforts in restoring your car shows you love it.

I half-suspect it's something in the Norway air. I'm on a number of other forums and some of my favorite build threads come from enthusiasts who live in Norway. Builds such as guys turbo charging a V12 and shoe-horning it into an 80's bmw 3 series. But I digress...

Keep it up Man!

He's achieved the promotion already to "Hierarki-Man" status. He's in a class by himself !!

thank you so much.and i tend to keep it up :)

yeah there is alot of nice "car work" going on here in Norway...no doubt about it..even though there is alot of that super builds..that tends to be just for track use..and the big car event here in Norway called "Gatebil" which stands for " Roadlegal Cars" ...directly translated...that show has taken an ugly turn in many ways...started back in early 2000"s...and it was a proper car show by and for enthusiasts...who had a big passion for their cars...but this show has grown to massive proportions..and today it is a proper "Festival" containing mainly drift super cars and late night parties...and its almost impossible NOT beeing afraid of some drunken nuthead fuckin up your car in the late hours..

so..but enough rant

again ..thank you for looking at my thread.:)and your kind words

Hi Stefan, here some photos of my steering and airbag for comparison. There is no number except the stamp for 39cm diameter in the steering. When i git it there was a b6 sticker on it. I got it like 10-12 years ago from eBay from a guy who bought them from a overstock from a dealership.i think in the old forum I might have posted the number but that is gone.

hey mate

thank you for info
If its that long ago..then i guess its not possible getting another one from the same seller..

but it seems that at least it does not have the same issue as the steering wheel i had.

but thank you for showing the pics :)

Most welcome, btw I had to swap the whole inner carrier over from the old to the new steering. The whole "golden" thing.

yeah,no big issue with the horn bracket itself...but like i mentioned, the problem i had was the distance between the mounting holes in the airbag was different from the ones in the steering wheel....making it an NON ORIGINAL core...

but i was by the way bidding on an SLK AMG steering wheel on ebay here today..but was outbid straight away....damn those nett trolls and autobidders i think :)

The horn between the two fans did you add that? Or is that a Euro item?
That is stock on the E500E. The second horn is in the bumper near the right fog light.

The 400E/E420 and most all other 124's have both horns up front/center between the fans. Only the .036 had one horn relocated.

hey there people :)
Today i have been to a car meeting. It was arranged by the Norwegian SportsCar Club, and it was mainly a "2 seater" "super Sports Car" meeting..with new and old cars. But there were also a demand for "special" cars, and there was this own section with rare cars, and other cars that did not fit the "Ferrari /Porsche/english sportscar genre.

So my 500e fit right in there..and i enjoyed a super nice car meeting with alot of awesome cars
The meeting was held at the local Flight/aeroplane museum. The planes there is mainly old war planes, and jets..but also some old smaller planes..but mainly its war aeroplane related.

After that show.i also went to a cars n coffee meeting..which was rather dull..so no pictures..but i met up with my friend in the Audi RS4..and we hung out for a while..and then drove for a cruise...and the day finished of with some icecream and strawberries.Super niiiiiice

I do not put a description on every picture..as i guess its not really needed :)

Enjoy :)

You may know this car..if you follow what happens in the tuning scene around the world. Its a World famous Ford Granada, with a 2500hp Top Fuel engine in it.STREET LEGAL
The car is a living legend, and the guy built it..had it for i think 20 years or so...even longer i think..and it started out as a 2.8 liter v6...then rebuilt with a Rover 3.5 V8...and have been under continiously rebuilding..and stands today with this maaasssive Top Fuel engine in it.A fun fact..is that the car is NEVER put on a trailer to go to car meetings...he DRIVES the car to every car meeting he goes too.!!
Enjoy!!

My guess is that you cleaned the fender area, and applied vulcanized rubber after coating it all with nickel-based rustt inhibitor.

hehehe yeah..its almost correct, NOCFN :)

But here is the answer :)
Ive taken off the front fender MAINLY because of the dreaded A pillar squeek
It kinda came back on my car..even though not to the same extent as earlier..but a tiny one.And i decided to take off the fender and check the SECOND checkpoint Mercedes wants you to check when having this problem, which is the inner fender panel
I did not find any faults really..apart from one of the panels not beeing welded all the way to the top..so i decided to strengten it while i had it off...but i will release a video in a little while where i show you what i found in addition to NOT finding any cracks in the weld
Here is some pics of my strenghtening repair

291.jpg

spot welded the panels
292.jpg

grinded the welds down
293.jpg

put on some primer
294.jpg

thats how far ive come..will be putting on body seal and paint tomorrow and monday,as i gotta have it ready for when my preventative maintenance parts coming in on tuesday :)

thanx for looking :)

hey heyy there
im havin fun while finishing of the repair work ive done behind my front fender. And i am also waiting for some parts..so i decided to nerd around abit and do some minor upgrades :)Both functionality and in the looks department:)

The vacum lines going to the vacum reservoir ,are going through a little hole in the inner fender panel, and there is NO rubber grommet in the hole..preventing the vacum pipes from rubbing against the edge of the hole.I decided to to something about this...so here is the pics

298.jpg

Found a suiting grommet

299.jpg

Fitted it,and no rubbing :)voila :)
300.jpg

also ..because of the "detailing stuff that no one can see" type of dude that i am...i painted up the hood spring behind the fender.
Think it looks pretty good...it matters the most for your own sake...you just KNOW that is looks good, and is in perfect condition even where people cant see it :)

301.jpg

Thanx for watchin ,and hope you liked it.

You're channeling Steve Jobs. Check out this article (link) and read the last sentence of the 5th paragraph (if nothing else).

Nice work.

Robert

hehe thank you very much..ive never been much of a computer dude..so i was not aware of this Steve Jobs"s " philosophy".

so..i guess i can take that as a compliment :)
thanx again for looking mister :)

AND a little video again.
Posted it in "body shop"...but cause its about my car,i post it here tooooooo :)

Hope you like it

A little update here :)
I am done with the A pillar squeek repair for the second time..and it is SORTED out.The sound is gone..and i have reason to believe it was the hood hinge arm that holds the hood spring..that was loose enough to cause movement and then squeeking sound which went through the spring and into the A pillar.Though i HAVE strengtened the weld on the inner fender weld ,and mounted the fender proper when mounting it back..i still think the hood arm was the culprit. At least the sound is gone

When doing this..i also decided to freshen up the whole area inside behind the front fender.
Here is some pics from start to finish..and i also added a new coolant overflow tank and painted up my vacum reservoar as i could not order a new parts,as it was NLA.

Hope you like it
Took off the fender, and first look

14.jpg

Inspected weld and seams

15.jpg

Strengthening the weld..and finished result, before putting on new body seal

294.jpg

Old overflow tank and vacum reservoar

16.jpg

Decided to check the whole seam all the way down..checking for rust..and putting new body seal on,pluss stonechip top coat to unify the look with the rest of the inner fender and wheel housing

17.jpg

Fresh from the factory :)New coolant overflow reservoar

18.jpg

Mounted on the car

19.jpg

Also put on a new hose from the high pressure coolant reservoar to the overflow reservoar
Also note the rubber grommet i put in the hole where the vacum tubes come out.To prevent them from wearing against the side of the hole. Also taped them up where they separate to two directions..to tidy it up abit.Mercedes genuine fiber tape of course :)
20.jpg

21.jpg

Mounted up the fender..and this is how it looks from behind the inner fender liner..tucked nicely up there :)

22.jpg

Hope you liked it :)

i'm beginning to wonder if you ever drive this beauty... :respekt:

hehe well mister...i actualy do drive it quite alot:)but the past week..its been standing still..waiting for the parts you see in the pics.I also got a new set of seals for the outdrives on the differential.got a leak there developing..so gotta take care of that.

Thank you so much for your kind words.I ALWAYS apreaciate that :)

By the way..here is a video to show the work up close.and some babbling as usual :)

thanx.

i cant hold myself..but im soooooo excited these days..as i have something special on my list of upgrades :):jono::jono:

Finally :)
One of my plans for the car was to get a stereo inside the car..as all the original stereo has been taken out of the car.The amps ,radio unit and cd shifter has been taken out..and left me with only speakers and wires.
So i used quite some time do decide WHAT to do...and i got a hot tip from a friend of a friend of mine..to have a look at these :)
So i FINALLY got one..and it was ALSO my FIRST Ebay purchase all on my own...and the deal went smoothly..and even got the part 4 days before estimated time..so getting this surprise on a Friday..is just PERFECT

The rest of the work im getting professionally done...the install..as i am NO stereo dude..though it wouldnt be a problem doing it myself..but i cant be bothered dealing with it after spending almost 1000 hours restoring the car through the winter and spring.so..thats how it goes :)

Behold :)The high end version of the Continental "Retro" look head unit.
Orange backlighting...DAB+, USB, Cd player,,normal radio.and just the look of it i find very soothing and fitting for the w124"s "style

60.jpg

Thanx for looking :)

Very cool, I like the look. And, it should be plug-n-play for any car that originally came with a BE1492. Nice :-)
