Call me crazy but I’d love to be able to fill my 400e daily driver with 87 or even 89 octane. The premium price for 93 is steep.

Is there any way to retard the timing to allow you to run 87 or 89?

On my 450sl (KJET) if I want to run 87 I can just turn the distributor back a bit to retard the timing. Anything similar ?

Would the knock sensors on the m119 detect preignition and retard the timing automatically??
