M119 valve switching sound after 2 minuntes

Hi All,

I´m just curious. After cold start the M119 engine runs little noiser (little ticking) on the oilfilter side/ passenger bank side. But after 2 minutes a valve or something like that swichtes and the engine is instantly more quietly. Could it be the valve in the oil filter housing?

thx,
Martin

Are you sure it isn't the air pump, which is located above the oil filter housing? This runs for about 2 minutes after a cold start, and old ones may not be very quiet. If you have an SDS you can manually turn it on so you can hear what it sounds like.
