Missing and ignition issue solved!

After months of searching for the solution to a poor running engine which starts cold but runs poorly when hot. I found the typical moisture problem in distributors and this helped but last night after drying them off my car wouldn’t start and I decided to replace the crank position sensor. What I found was the existing sensor was loose! The bolt was finger tight. Obviously a huge oversight by me during my engine out drama several years ago. This apparently caused erratic operation which completely went away after replacing and tightening a new Hella crank position sensor. I’m so happy today! I hope this helps someone else struggling with a rough running rough starting engine.

I suspected so, for whatever reason the 124 and 126 lower 4L or 4.2L seem to have CPS for hot start stalls The 5.0L and 5.6L versions of the 124/126 do not seem to experience this as often. Not sure why that is.
