500E Need help with sale price of 93 500e

So I inherited a signal red 93 500e and would like to sell it but I don't know how much I should ask (ball park) since it's a collectors car. From what I read there wasn't many of these sent state side in red. I took it for a spin for the ride home and it's probably one of the most solid , best driving cars I've driven.

I have pictures of the outside but I didn't take the interior yet since I want to get it cleaned to show. If someone could give me a rough estimate of a sale price I would greatly appreciate it and If theres any other info I'm missing, which I'm sure there is , I'll happily give it out. Also would anyone recommend going auction or private. I'm on the fence about it but whatever is best ill go with.

Hello Hiero,

If you browse the classified section of this forum, you'll get an idea of approximate values. Actual market value will depend on condition and service records / history. The photos above show this car is currently in average to below-average condition. The large dent below the passenger taillight will hurt value. Not sure why the wiper is too long and poking over the windshield trim, and the windshield lower trim isn't in place (attachment channel may be damaged, common issue, not easy to fix). Front bumper tow hook cover is missing, those are NLA new, but there are reproductions available.

This car was in a significant front-end accident at some point in the past, because all the factory decals are missing from the upper radiator support, indicating it has been replaced. Nothing shows on AutoCheck which means the accident likely wasn't reported to insurance. The color is relatively rare, which will help. Definitely need interior photos to help estimate value.

Selling privately is often the best way to go, unless you are familiar with how to sell via the major auction platforms (BaT, C&B, MBM). There's always a risk of muppets in the peanut gallery derailing the auction, especially when a car is less than perfect. It takes a lot of effort, diplomacy, and seller engagement during the auction (need to check & reply to comments every day) to maximize the result. Another option is to sell through a consignment dealer and let them handle the auction process.

Hope this helps, and welcome to the forum!

The car definitely needs some love. You're new so DM's are not possible. Love to see some interior pictures. Please reach out to me mpatel1976@gmail.com. Thanks!

Thank you ! I appreciate the response. I know nothing about Mercedes except from what I've read . I don't mind working on some cars but euro imports scare me. My mom bought this car and she barely drove so whatever happened to it happened from the previous owner . I'll get on the research cause I hate it just sitting covered. Its a cool car but Its out of my league.
