1992 Mercedes 190E 2.6 (inline six) W201 - Private Owner - $4,250 (Peachtree Corners)
Details:
1. Second owner. We've owned it since 2006.
2. Clear and clean title. Original owner's manual and 3 keys included. Various records/receipts also included.
3. No rust, always an Atlanta car
4. Original paint (the color is bronze), no accidents
5. Engine is in excellent condition. The top end of the engine was rebuilt by RBM at approx 158K miles. The engine runs like new.
6. A/C and heat work properly. The HVAC blower motor was recently replaced.
7. Sunroof works properly and does not leak
8. All lights, horn, wipers, etc work properly
9. The suspension was renewed by a German car specialist approx 10K miles ago. Items replaced were control arms, all struts/shocks (Bilstein), strut/shock mounts, engine mounts (Lemforder), tie rod end, strut boots and bump stops. Both front wheel bearings were adusted at this time as well.
10. Rear brakes were recently refreshed (new calipers, rotors, and pads). All Mercedes parts.
11. The spark plugs were replaced less than 500 miles ago (Bosch). The ignition wires/distributor cap are in good condition.
12. Car drives smoothly in-town as well as on the interstate.
13. The car comes with a spare wheel/tire in good condition and the factory jack and wrench
14. The car uses no oil between oil changes
15. The car has been driven approx 25K miles in the last 18 years, under our ownership.
16. Reason for sale: this is my mom's car and she doesn't drive much any more.
17. The car was made in the era prior to OBDII and the dreaded "check engine" light. It requires no annual emissions check due its age
18. Bridgestone Ecopia EP422 tires are in excellent condition.
Additional information:
1. The paint is original and therefore almost 33 years old. It has a lovely patina (aka oxidation) in certain areas.
2. There are minor cosmetic blemishes here and there on the exterior and interior.
3. The front driver's side power window regulator/motor were both replaced in 2022. However the alignment of the window glass is off and the window doesn't track up and down smoothly. The window is fully raised up at this time. I'm currently looking into it.
4. The factory radio has been replaced with a Sony AM/FM CD (HD ready) unit. This radio does have a clock. Front speakers work fine but the rear speakers need to be connected. New speaker wiring has already been run. The power antenna mast needs to be replaced.
5. Speedometer and clock are in-operative. I have installed a digital GPS speedometer and it works perfectly. It's not in the pictures because i wanted you to see what the factory instrument panel looks like. I'll take a picture of the GPS speedometer fitted and will upload it soon. It's a digital unit in a small pod and it sits directly in front of the factory speedometer. The odometer mileage is true and correct and it's never had any issue. The speedometer issue might be a broken speedometer cable or internal to the instrument cluster itself. I haven't investigated this since the digital GPS speedometer works well.
I'll add on to the listing as I think of things (both positive and negative). My goal is complete transparency to the potential buyer.
A quote from Car & Driver when they reviewed this car in July of 1991:
