FYI NOCO Boost on sale at Amazon for Cyber Monday

anyone have recent guidance on Nocos? Amazon currently has a sale?

X series vs. GBs.?

I have two GB70s that have performed well.

Just throwing it out there. I have the Gooloo 2500A booster that was recommended on this site 8 years ago and still functions flawlessly while both my Noco units have failed. It's the same amperage as the GB75 and will start my 7.3 Powerstroke diesel.

If you can live without the USB C, it's still for sale for $39.99 on Amazon if you use the coupon.

@alabbasi Thanks for the tip. Just ordered. My wife likes the idea of having one jump starter in each car. With one NOCO and now this, we're on our way.

TLDW: There are a lot of garbage units out there - you've been warned. The NOCO GBX155 is still top dog, but expensive. There are only a couple of cromulent alternatives if you want a budget unit. I'd still consider the GB70/GBX75 when they are on sale again (likely for BFCM in a week or two).

:watchdrama:

CyberMonday 2025 pricing screenshotted below. Most prices are up from fall 2024 (post 52 above).

One of my old GB40 units finally died... will not charge, stuck at 1 blinking charge light for days, never goes above 1 red LED. 😟

My second GB40, and GB70, both are still working OK.

I'm torn between the GB50 and GBX55 to replace the dead GB40. I like the USB-C charging (faster) on the 55, but there are general reports of the new GBX series tending to be more flaky vs the older GB series. In particular, if the GBX charge drops too low you need to jump through a bunch of hoops to get it to charge back up (lots of YT videos on this). @Trae, make sure to keeps yours charged up to avoid that.

:seesaw:

UPDATE: I bought the GBX55. I think most complaints center around the issues where the unit is allowed to fully discharge, and I hope to avoid that. The GBX55 has the cables/clamps permanently attached, like the GB70/GBX75. I like this, as the plug-in cable/clamp is a bit of nuisance for storage in the flimsy fabric bag supplied. I haven't tested it yet, but have an 034 parts car with no battery that I can connect it to and see how fast it spins the engine. Stay tuned. I was disappointed that no charger is included, only a USB-C cable. You need to supply your own wall wart or cigarette-lighter adapter to charge it. The older units provided both a cable AND charger. Kinda lame to eliminate this on a high-priced unit. Next up is looking for a nice hard-shell case, but not the NOCO case, which is obscenely oversized.

BTW - I looked at the GooLoo offerings. Sadly, almost every single one has bulky clamps as seen in post #37 and post #44. The bulky clamps do not work well (if at all) on the recessed terminals found on the Group 49/H8 batteries we have in the 034/036 chassis. The bulky clamps are, IMO... (forgive the impending pun)... a non-starter.

Honestly the best Gooloo jump box that I've owned is the one in post #54 which I've owned since 2018. The bigger ones don't seem to perform that much better.

Aside from it using a proprietary charger instead of USB C ,it works brilliantly. My GB40 can still be used to jump my riding mower, the GB150 can't even do that.
