UPDATE, NOVEMBER 2021: NOCO boosters are on sale again for Cyber Monday, including the fancy new "X" series boosters with USB-C support and allegedly higher power. See post #22 below for details.

UPDATE, SEPTEMBER 2020: The GB70 will crank over a W124 + M119 for over 10 seconds, with NO battery in the car at all, and even shows full charge afterwards (indicating actual charge between 75-100%). Impressive performance. Crank speed is not quite as fast as with the Group 49 battery, but it is close. I would highly recommend the GB70. I don't have a GB50 to test, but I think it would be adequate for W124/M119 use. The GB40 did crank the engine with no battery, but weakly... it would be better suited to boosting a weak battery, or use on a smaller engine. I wouldn't recommend the GB40 for Mercedes V8's - get a larger booster.
=========================================================================
I've been wanting to get one of these things for a couple years now, after a flaky Interstate (non-AGM) battery stranded my wife in the staging lanes (temporarily) during competition at the dragstrip. The higher-output units are not cheap so I've been delaying the purchase. And, the older version had clamps which wouldn't fit on a 400E/500E battery terminal. The new design have slim clamps which should fit.
Note: These units are primarily designed to boost a weak battery, not a jump-start a vehicle with a completely dead battery.
I was tossed up between the 1500A (GB50) and 2000A (GB70) versions, but think I'll spring for the larger one. The GB50 only has USB input/output for auxiliary power. The GB70 also includes separate connections for higher-current input for faster charging, plus a 15A output for supplying larger 12v loads. If you don't need as much firepower (think M112, not M119) the 1000A (GB40) unit at $63 may work fine.
