So we have a little "project" going on my brother's Volvo wagon that he uses as his "mobile detailing mobile" as a side job. The car recently burned a valve, and really not reasonable to overhaul that engine. So we sourced a local low milage engine, and it arrived with a few surprizes:

Lookin through the ports in the head - zero carbon buildup, and I mean zerrrrro! Rebuilt recently? Most likely... This is what's on the engine for the coil packs

Now, I've never heard of them or seen them, so I promptly Google it, and here is what we have

$1650?????????????????? :yayo::yayo::yayo: And everything MB related for C-class and bigger over $2K :yayo: :yayo: :yayo:

I guess if someone is trying to squeeze ever single hp of the properly built/tuned engine, then perhaps it is worth the investment, but for a basic daily driver, would improvement be that noticeable??? Which also leads me to question if the complete engine we received from recycler is was modified/built? I guess we will see soon enough.

Old engine is out, the "new" used one is mated to the "new" used transmission (he lost reverse not long ago, very unusual for these Aisin units) and fingers crossed will be firing today. In his friends shop for the weekend

His friend PJ on his "off" time. Quite amazing guy that is very very exceptional mechanic and fabricator, worked frequently on Lamborghinis and Ferraris in the other shop some time back

Pile of parts to go back in... all new hoses, piping ets. Will also make a transmission cooler once the engine sorted out.

Still, can't get over the coil pack prices!!! Anyone use them here?
